The Global Stowage Planning team is a critical function within Maersk’s Ocean Container Logistics division. As the final link in delivering a seamless end-to-end experience for our customers, the team is responsible for designing stowage plans that optimize vessel capacity, ensure safety, and enhance operational efficiency.
We are seeking an Optimization & Standards Lead to join our team and drive technical evaluations and solutions that maximize asset utilization sustainably and safely. This role will also lead the formulation and implementation of stowage policies and standards across the global stowage community.

Key responsibilities
Asset Optimization & Technical Evaluation
Lead evaluations to optimize vessel capacity through retrofitting, new designs, and innovative solutions.
Provide technical advice and cost-benefit analyses for new builds, retrofitting, and reefer expansion projects.
Monitor and report on the benefits of retrofitting initiatives to relevant stakeholders.
Policy Development & System Management
Develop and present policy recommendations to stowage leadership and cross-functional teams.
Review and update stowage policies and standards to align with regulatory, company, and industry requirements.
Update and maintain policies in stowage systems (e.g., cCasp+, OSP) in collaboration with software vendors and platform owners.
Safety & Compliance
Subject matter expert for DG related matters in connection to stowage and risk zone Planning
Collaborate with cargo safety and policy teams to improve the safety of DG stowage and acceptance
Conduct stowage safety audits to identify risks and promote a safety-first culture
Perform root cause analyses on safety violations and recommend corrective actions and policy enhancements
Support incident handling related to asset or cargo claims and disputes.
Stakeholder Alignment & Collaboration
Align marine standards with vessel masters and owners (via Chartering team) to resolve stowage-related discrepancies.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on initiatives to improve safety and cost leadership.
Industry Representation
Represent stowage team in SMDG forums and actively engage with industry leaders on stowage-related topics.
This role follows standard working hours (no shift, weekend or night duties) and is open for local employment only.

Proven experience and deep knowledge in stowage planning.
Strong understanding of vessel design and fleet characteristics.
Knowledge in naval engineering, navigation, or ocean network operations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
