Position Overview

The Operations Manager manage the Hong Kong Operations team, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and efficient delivery of data center and server room services in alignment with client standards, SLAs, and business objectives. This role mainly manages the vendors and serves as the primary point of accountability for operational performance, resource planning, vendor coordination, and client satisfaction.

What this job involves:

  • Lead and manage the server room operations with consistent execution, including monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident resolution for IT infrastructure (servers, network equipment, power, cooling, etc.).
  • Oversee capacity planning for server rooms—tracking and forecasting power, cooling, rack space, loading, and network port utilization to support current and future needs. Collaborate with IT and facilities teams to optimize layout and resource allocation.
  • Review, validate and approve all change requests, permits, and documentation related to IT hardware work including installation, decommissioning, migrations, refreshes, and any other works that may have potential impact.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and third-party service providers; approve work schedules, supervise on-site activities, and ensure deliverables meet client standards and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain strict compliance with physical security protocols and environmental controls (temperature, humidity, power redundancy) in all server room facilities.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date inventory records of hardware, software, and network components using designated tools (e.g., Patch Manager).
  • Drive the development, review, and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all server room activities.
  • Enforce adherence to client policies, industry best practices (e.g., ISO, TIA-942), and regulatory requirements governing data center operations.
  • Lead participation in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution to ensure client business continuity.
  • Collaborate closely with regional IT, facilities, and client teams to align operations with broader technical and strategic goals.
  • Stay current with emerging data center technologies, trends, and operational efficiencies to enhance service delivery.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data center or server room operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, cabling standards, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • In-depth knowledge of cabling standard and cable management in data center.
  • Knowledge in using all standard cable testers used in data centers (e.g., Fluke Networks, VIAVI , or comparable tools) to verify and certify copper and fiber cabling integrity.
  • Strong knowledge of building services engineering and facility management principles.
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident handling skills and ability to follow technical procedures accurately.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage vendors, incidents, and cross-functional projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, CCNA, MCSE, or PMP are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across local and regional teams and with external vendors.
  • Fluent Cantonese, English and Mandarin skills are mandatory.
