The Application Support Analyst for Wealth Data applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflows within the wealth data domain. This role requires integrating subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area, with an in-depth understanding of how various sub-functions collectively integrate and contribute to the overall objectives of the function and business. The successful candidate will evaluate moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. This position demands strong analytical, communication, and diplomacy skills, often involving informal/formal leadership within teams and coaching of new recruits. The role has a significant impact on project size and geography by influencing decisions through advice, counsel, and facilitating services, directly affecting the work and performance of all teams in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support: Provide Level 1/2 application support for critical wealth data platforms and applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Incident Management: Respond to and resolve production incidents promptly, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
  • Problem Management: Proactively identify recurring issues, analyze trends, and collaborate with development teams to implement long-term solutions.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and enhancement of support processes, workflows, and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert for wealth data applications, providing guidance and support to business users and other IT teams.
  • Technical Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of complex technical issues, using various tools and techniques to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for support procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, development teams, and external vendors to manage expectations and provide timely updates.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Regularly assume informal/formal leadership roles, coach, and train new recruits, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Change Management: Participate in release management activities, including testing, deployment, and post-implementation support for new features and application upgrades.

Technical Qualifications:

  • Database Proficiency:
    • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying, analyzing, and troubleshooting data issues in relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
    • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
    • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
  • Scripting & Automation:
    • Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Shell Scripting, PowerShell) for automation of routine tasks, data analysis, and system monitoring.
  • Operating Systems:
    • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
    • Familiarity with Windows Server environments.
  • Application Servers & Middleware:
    • Experience supporting applications deployed on application servers (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic) or web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx).
    • Knowledge of messaging queues (e.g., Kafka, MQ Series) and their role in distributed systems.
  • Monitoring & Alerting Tools:
    • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack) for logging, metrics, and alerting.
  • Data Integration:
    • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration patterns relevant to wealth data platforms.
    • Experience with data warehousing concepts and tools.
  • Networking Fundamentals:
    • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancers, Firewalls) to diagnose connectivity issues.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in application support, with a focus on data-intensive financial applications, preferably in wealth management.
  • In-depth disciplinary knowledge and expertise in wealth data processes and systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to filter, prioritize, and validate complex and dynamic information.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, often assuming leadership roles.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong commitment to improving processes and workflows.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.
