We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Vice President, Institutional Sales, Southeast Asia (ex-Malaysia) to join the team in Singapore. The role is based in Singapore, reporting to the Head of Institutional Business for Southeast Asia. The role will be responsible for the initiation, implementation and execution of the sales strategy for all the markets in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Timor Leste and other emerging/frontier markets). He/she will drive sales results and will work closely with the investment and distribution functions to deliver positive net sales, maintain strong channel relationships, enhance the prominence and perception of the Franklin Templeton brand in the institutional market.

How You Will Add Value?
  • Lead the execution of integrated and strategic sales and marketing plan for institutional/separate accounts in the Southeast Asia region

  • Actively engage with institutional clients and consultants to seek direct or sub-advisory mandates working towards increasing of AUM and market share

  • Act as a seasoned sales executive in identifying and developing new opportunities and representing the firm at client meetings via sophisticated presentations and delivering thought leadership

  • Meet performance expectations and targets, address poor performance, lead expansion opportunities and work in partnership with Head of Institutional Business for Southeast Asia to develop the sales and marketing plan for segment and region

  • Maintain a database of sales and marketing activities and monitor any follow up items

  • Act as a day-to-day client contact for any issues on account management, portfolio administration, performance, reporting, communication, etc

  • Develop strong relationships and collaborate with the firm’s investment management teams, marketing support, portfolio administration, performance and risk analytics units for projects, events or initiatives

  • Review and develop sales presentations, marketing brochures, regular communication materials, RFPs, information requests and industry surveys from clients, prospects and consultants

What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role?

Education, Certification & Experience:

  • University degree in finance, marketing, or related discipline

  • Relevant MAS licenses (e.g. CMFAS Module 3)

  • CFA, CAIA certification or equivalent is highly preferred

  • Preferably 8-10 years working experience in sales/business development roles or investment management roles within fund management firms

  • Provable track record of delivering sales results in Southeast Asia institutional market, experience in marketing alternatives to asset owners is strongly preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Evident technical depth and understanding across asset classes. Deep insights into regional client needs, regulatory constraints and buying behavior

  • Well-developed network of relationships with Singapore and the broader Southeast Asia institutional buyers

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Able to deliver strong sales presentations

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, and Morningstar

  • Able to cope well with frequent travel of up to 50% of the time.
