About this role

Your Team

Global Product Solutions (GPS) brings innovation, discipline and focus to BlackRock's investment product platform by connecting client needs, investment capabilities and product opportunities. In Japan, GPS is responsible for developing and commercialising products across ETFs, mutual funds and the broader BlackRock investment platform. The team partners closely with investment, distribution and marketing professionals to deliver product strategies that meet client needs and support business growth.

Your Role and Impact

We are seeking a Vice President to drive product commercialisation across our ETF and mutual fund businesses in Japan. This role partners closely with Client Business, Product Development, Investments and Marketing teams to define commercial priorities, develop compelling product positioning and execute go-to-market strategies across Japan's distribution channels.

The successful candidate will combine a strong understanding of the Japanese asset management market with commercial judgement and client insight to identify growth opportunities, strengthen product positioning and contribute to measurable business outcomes. This role offers broad exposure across investment products, distribution channels and strategic business initiatives while helping shape the future direction of BlackRock's product platform in Japan.

Your Responsibilities

At BlackRock, responsibilities are designed to evolve with the needs of our clients and business. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute commercialisation strategies for priority ETF and mutual fund products and franchises based on client needs, market trends, competitive dynamics and business priorities.
  • Partner with Client Business, Investments, Product Development and Marketing teams to define product positioning, target client segments and distribution strategies for new and existing products.
  • Drive go-to-market execution for product launches and priority franchises, including campaigns, distributor initiatives, fund manager roadshows and other client engagement activities.
  • Develop compelling product narratives and ensure Client Business teams have the content, competitive insights, training and tools needed to engage clients effectively.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of investor demand, distributor needs, competitor activity and market trends, using these insights to identify commercial opportunities and inform the product development pipeline.
  • Monitor flows, assets, commercial pipeline activity and other business indicators to assess performance and refine product and distribution priorities.
  • Lead and participate in broader Japan GPS and firm-wide strategic initiatives.

Your Experience

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in asset management or financial services, preferably in product strategy, commercialisation, distribution, product marketing or investment product sales.
  • Strong understanding of the Japanese asset management market and how investment products are positioned and distributed, ideally including ETFs and/or mutual funds.
  • Strong commercial judgement and understanding of capital markets, investment products and performance drivers, with the ability to translate market and client insights into actionable business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to develop clear and compelling product narratives.
  • Proven ability to execute across a matrix organisation and work effectively across Product, Distribution, Investments, Marketing and other functions.
  • Highly collaborative, proactive and comfortable operating with significant ownership in a fast-paced environment.
  • Native-level Japanese and strong business-level English.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and comfort in leveraging emerging technologies, including Generative AI tools and intelligent agents.
