About this role

Your Team

Global Product Solutions (GPS) brings innovation, discipline and focus to BlackRock's investment product platform by connecting client needs, investment capabilities and product opportunities. In Japan, GPS is responsible for developing and managing investment products across iShares ETFs, mutual funds and the broader BlackRock investment platform.

Your Role and Impact

We are seeking a Vice President to drive the development and lifecycle management of iShares ETFs in Japan, with the opportunity to support other investment products and strategic product initiatives over time.

The successful candidate will work closely with Investments, Client Business, Product Commercialization, Legal & Compliance, Operations and regional and global partners to identify product opportunities and lead them from initial concept through development, approval and launch.

This role requires strong product judgment, disciplined execution and a deep interest in the rapidly evolving Japanese ETF market. It offers the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the iShares franchise in Japan while contributing to broader product innovation and strategic initiatives across the business.

Your Responsibilities

At BlackRock, responsibilities are designed to evolve with the needs of our clients and business. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development of new Japan-listed ETFs from initial concept and feasibility assessment through product design, governance approval, implementation and launch.
  • Identify opportunities to expand and improve the iShares Japan product range based on client demand, market and regulatory developments, competitor activity, investment capabilities and commercial potential.
  • Partner with Investments, Client Business and Product Commercialization to develop the ETF product pipeline and ensure new products have clear client relevance and a credible path to market.
  • Drive cross-functional execution across Legal & Compliance, Operations, Technology, Tax, Capital Markets and other partners to deliver new products effectively.
  • Manage the existing ETF range through product enhancements, benchmark or strategy changes, fee changes, mergers, closures and other lifecycle initiatives.
  • Prepare product proposals, analyses and governance materials and help navigate local, regional and global product approval processes.
  • Monitor developments across the Japanese and global ETF industries, bringing relevant product innovation and best practices to the Japan business.
  • Support mutual funds and other Japan GPS product development or strategic initiatives as business priorities evolve.

Your Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in asset management, ETFs, investment products or a related field involving complex product or project execution.
  • Experience in ETF or investment product development, product management, product strategy or a related function is preferred; candidates with strong transferable skills and a demonstrated interest in ETFs are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets and investment products, with knowledge of ETFs, indexing and the Japanese asset management market highly valued.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives and drive them to completion.
  • Sound commercial judgment and the ability to evaluate client demand, competitive positioning, product viability and execution requirements.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across Investments, Distribution, Legal & Compliance, Operations, Capital Markets and other functions.
  • Highly collaborative, proactive and able to communicate effectively with both Japanese and international stakeholders.
  • Fluency in Japanese and strong business-level English.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and comfort in leveraging emerging technologies, including Generative AI tools and intelligent agents
