Test Engineer II

Job Summary:

Designs, develops, All engineering duties covering computer & Rack assembly, testing and packaging.   Installs and maintains test software applications, equipment, and tools used both in the production and engineering service areas. Also provides third-tier troubleshooting support, repairs and integrates electronic assemblies and subassemblies of complex embedded computer systems.

Oversees  Daily Production matters

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provides input during engineering design and support reviews and prototype builds on functional requirements, product designs and potential issues as it relates to testing and manufacturing.
• Collaborates with design engineering and customer operations to establish new or redesign existing service programs.
• Provides engineering support during NPI phase. Including but not limited to: Completes First Article build with the support from the engineering team or following Avnet Build Instruction. Assist in FAI report to the customer for approval. Leads the Pilot Run production, and ensures product meets internal and external quality requirements and customer specifications. 
• Creates production and fine tune procedures and processes, writes production build instruction, troubleshooting guides and develops testing techniques. 
• Trains operations personnel on support and manufacturing processes, product schematics.
• Compiles and maintains test-related documentation including test plans, procedures, results and reports.
• Identifies, investigates, and participates in opportunities to improve processes and procedures, to include various key performance metrics.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications:

• Thorough knowledge of principles, theories and concepts in area of discipline. Competent in all job functions and has general understanding of the industry practices, techniques and standards.
• Develops solutions for a variety of situations and works on projects requiring evaluation and analysis. May refer to policies, practices and precedents for guidance; determines best course of action to achieve results.
• Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. May receive some limited guidance for new assignments. Work may be reviewed for overall adequacy.
• May represent the organization as a primary contact on assignments and/or projects. Interacts with senior professionals and management and frequently coordinates work between departments or organizations and customers.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture
• Familiar with Linux, Windows, and networking setup
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Bilingual in Mandarin tunning a plus
• Actions may impact on the organization. Failure to accomplish work will result in the inability to reach crucial organizational goals. Erroneous decisions may have a prolonged effect resulting in the expenditure of substantial resources.

Work Experience:

• Typically, 5+ years in Rack and server assembly and test.

Education and Certification(s):

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

• May be required to travel.
