Join Our Team at the NTU Chinese Medicine Clinic

Established in 2009, the NTU Chinese Medicine Clinic serves as a TCM Board approved teaching clinic for the programmes in Biomedical Sciences and Chinese Medicine at the School of Biological Sciences, College of Science. We offer a range of services including acupuncture, cupping, tuina treatment massage for adults, and paediatric tuina, along with herbal medication.

We are seeking a Senior Physician to provide expert clinical services while supporting education, training, and the advancement of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) within the academic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation and treatment to patients at the NTU Chinese Medicine Clinic, including specialised care within a sub-specialty area.

  • Deliver expert clinical services while supervising junior practitioners and supporting overall clinic operations.

  • Contribute to clinic revenue generation through effective patient management and service delivery.

  • Deliver structured teaching, clinical supervision, and mentorship to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Chinese Medicine (CMed) programme.

  • Support students’ academic, clinical, and professional development to ensure achievement of programme learning objectives.

  • Foster students’ clinical competence, critical thinking, and professional skills, contributing to strong licensing examination outcomes and low programme attrition rates.

  • Manage academic and administrative responsibilities, including course coordination, student assessments, grade management, and organisation of academic activities and events.

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and smooth delivery of teaching and programme operations.

  • Participate in TCM clinical research by supporting patient recruitment, data collection (e.g., syndrome differentiation, treatment outcomes), and adherence to research protocols.

  • Contribute to the generation of reliable clinical data that reflects real-world TCM practice and patient outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (MSc) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from a recognised institution, with full professional registration with the TCM Practitioners Board (TCMPB), Singapore, and a valid practising certificate.

  • Accredited training and clinical expertise in key TCM modalities, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and/or tuina.

  • Minimum 13 years of clinical experience as a TCM physician, preferably in a senior, specialist, or consultant-level capacity, with demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and develop effective treatment plans.

  • Proven experience in teaching, mentoring, or supervising students and/or junior practitioners in a clinical setting.

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary or integrative healthcare environments; exposure to clinical research or practice-based research is advantageous.

  • Advanced knowledge of TCM diagnostics, treatment principles, and modalities, with strong ability to integrate biomedical sciences into clinical practice and teaching.

  • Familiarity with clinical education methodologies, student supervision, and academic programme delivery in a teaching clinic environment.

  • Good understanding of healthcare ethics, clinical governance, and patient safety standards, as well as awareness of current developments and research trends in TCM and integrative medicine.

  • Strong clinical and technical expertise in acupuncture, herbal prescription, tuina, and comprehensive TCM diagnosis, with proficiency in accurate clinical documentation and guiding students in proper record-keeping.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and assess students, as well as deliver lectures, tutorials, and clinical demonstrations effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage patients, students, and colleagues, and to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.

  • Strong organisational, administrative, and time-management skills, with the ability to support clinic operations, workflow, and quality assurance processes.

  • Professional, ethical, and patient-centred approach, with a strong commitment to education and the development of future TCM practitioners.

  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary academic and clinical teams.

  • Demonstrates leadership, maturity, sound clinical judgment, and a passion for advancing TCM education and contributing to institutional goals.
