WHO ARE WE?

Chess at Three is a US/ New York based venture capital backed early education company, newly launched in Singapore since August 2023 with strong growth plans. We have three original educational products that cater to children from ages 3 to 11 years.

• Birchguard Quest is a speech and drama program for children aged 6 to 11, in the form of an educational roleplaying game, that develops creativity, collaboration, communication and leadership skills. 
• Our signature product Chess at Three, introduces chess to children from the surprising age of three, through fun games and engaging stories. Children become successful chess players while also exploring the foundations of math, strategy and sportsmanship as they journey with a unique cast of characters on an exciting narrative adventure.

By harnessing the power of stories, Chess at Three’s award winning curriculum has been taught to over 150,000 children in homes, schools, and online around the world. In Singapore, we currently operate lessons in our club in United Square at Novena, or Harbourfront. 

About The Opportunity:

Chess at Three is looking to hire storytellers/teachers/tutors to teach Birchguard Quest and Chess at our United Square club and in schools, to children aged from 6-11, in small groups of about 5 to 8.  Familiarity/ interest with Dungeons & Dragons and the game of chess is helpful, but you do not need to be a chess player right now.  For this role, we will prioritise candidates familiar with Dungeons & Dragons.  Initially, we will pair you up with an experienced tutor as a shadow tutor, as well as provide you with comprehensive training

Position Requirements :

• Fun, animated, and great with children.
• Heart for hospitality and serving children.
• Driven personality/entrepreneurial spirit.
• Extremely organized and responsible.
• Not afraid to ask for referrals or seek new lesson opportunities (schools, families, local communities, etc).
• Interest in the game of chess, but no prior knowledge required
• Experience as a performing artist, teacher, or early childhood professional is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Thorough background check will be required at the time of hire.
• Tutors are expected to be responsive and accountable to the families and schools of our students.

Position Details:

• S$25 - S$40/hr
• Independent Contractor
• Part-Time

Schedule:

• Weekdays during school
• Weekdays after school
• Weekend availability is preferred
