We run an internal government application serving the whole of government. Beyond maintaining core systems, we actively partner with agencies to design and implement product-centric solutions that address real operational needs. Increasingly, our work leverages AI across the stack — from intelligent automation and data-driven insights to generative interfaces and decision-support systems.
Our teams work in a cloud-native, AWS-based environment, building with Python, Node.js, and Go, and delivering modern frontend applications with frameworks like Vue.js. We move fast, stay agile, and adapt to ever-changing requirements and scope.
We are seeking a versatile and skilled Software Engineer (Generalist) to join our dynamic team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend and frontend systems.
- Build reliable and secure services using Python, Node.js, and Go.
- Develop user-facing features with modern frontend frameworks (e.g. Vue.js, React, or similar).
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and partner agencies to translate requirements into working solutions.
- Operate services on AWS, leveraging cloud-native services and infrastructure as code.
- Debug, optimize, and improve performance of applications and workflows.
- Uphold high standards in code quality, testing, and operational excellence.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience. Candidate with more experienced can be considered for a Senior Engineer role.
- Strong foundation in any coding language.
- Experience building and shipping production-grade applications.
- Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Good understanding of system design, scalability, and security best practices.
- Comfortable working across the stack – frontend, backend, and infra.
- Experience leveraging AI tools and LLM-based solutions (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, code generation, or AI-assisted debugging) to accelerate development.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment with evolving requirements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
