Role summary

As a FE Software Engineer I/II, you will build and improve Wati’s web applications that power conversational experiences for thousands of businesses worldwide. You will work closely with product, design and backend teams to ship high‑quality features that make customer conversations more efficient, intelligent and delightful.


What you will do
  • Develop, test and maintain responsive web UIs using React and TypeScript for Wati’s core SaaS products.
  • Build reusable components and front-end modules, contributing to our design system and ensuring a consistent product experience.
  • Integrate REST/GraphQL APIs, manage client‑side state and handle real‑time messaging scenarios where needed.
  • Optimise frontend performance, including bundle size, rendering behaviour and perceived responsiveness for users across regions.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design and other Engineers to refine requirements, propose technical solutions and deliver incremental value in an agile environment.
  • Write clean, maintainable, type‑safe code with appropriate tests, and participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Requirements
  • 1–5 years of experience (or strong internships/projects) building web UIs with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one modern framework, preferably React with TypeScript (Vue or Angular also considered).
  • Solid understanding of responsive design, basic accessibility, and cross‑browser issues.
  • Familiarity with Git and common frontend tooling (package managers, bundlers, browser dev tools).
  • Ability to collaborate with Product, Design, and other Engineers, communicate clearly, and incorporate feedback through code reviews.
  • Strong commitment to code quality practices including SOLID principle, modular architecture, clean encapsulation, reusable components, and maintainable code structure.

You may be considered for a mid‑level role if you also:

  • Have 3+ years of professional frontend experience delivering production web applications.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with TypeScript and React, including performance optimization and modern patterns (hooks, code‑splitting, etc.).
  • Have experience owning parts of the frontend architecture, component libraries, or shared UI systems.
  • Show a track record of debugging complex issues, improving developer experience, and mentoring junior engineers.
Nice-to-have
  • Experience with real‑time messaging, WebSockets or event‑driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with analytics/experimentation (A/B tests, feature flags) in a SaaS product.
  • Prior experience in B2B SaaS or customer engagement platforms.
  • Experience in full-stack framework (e.g. Next.js)
  • Backend development experience with .NET / Go / Node.js
