Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a Junior Site Scientific Support Specialist (Analytical Team) to join our dynamic team. As a Junior Site Scientific Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our customers in their Analytical Laboratory works on Depo & Skincare. With your sound technical knowledge, you will ensure compliance with Standard Operation Procedures and good manufacturing practices. Stability Support
- Retrieve and place stability samples form storage or chambers for testing.
- Perform physical tests such as pH, viscosity, specific gravity, weight loss, colour and appearance.
- Conduct chemical analyses using HPLC, Titration (Auto and Manual), GC, RI and UV-Vis Spectrophotometer.
- Support testing of reformulated samples using various test methods.
- Participate in training for new physical and chemical stability methods.
- Upload test results into the Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS – NEXUS).
- Investigate deviations in test results and report findings to the client’s SPOC/
- Perform quality checks and second-level reviews before releasing results in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).
Stability Chamber (CTCH) Management:
- Manage the in-and-out movement of stability samples and housekeeping of the specific chambers.
- Oversee the inventory of stability samples and related materials, including labelling, aliquoting and preparation of samples for chamber placement.
- Conduct checks such as appearance and weight checks on samples upon retrieval.
- Facilitate with sample disposal or expire or unusable physical samples according to customer guidelines and procedures.
Laboratory Operation Support
- Ensure laboratory safety equipment is in good working order including eyewash stations and report any issues to the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department.
- Review, purchase and maintain inventory of chemicals and lab consumables.
- Perform basic daily maintenance activities on laboratory equipment, including changing ultrapure water, topping up H2 generators and checking equipment functionality.
- Manage glassware cleaning, including coordinating with external contractors and operating the glassware washer.
- Regularly check and replenish spill kits, manage empty chemical bottles and maintain safe storage practices.
Quality Assurance and Ad-hoc
- Perform Phase 1A investigations and prepare investigation reports (Lab Investigation Reports or Incident Investigation Reports) for incidents, implementing Corrective Action Prevention Actions (CAPA) as needed.
- Investigate laboratory deviations (e.g. data entry errors, out-of-target results), implement CAPA and monitor incident progress.
- Conduct data reviews and counter-checks test results before submission to ELN.
- Participate in internal quality exercises and submit service provider data as required.
- Prepare samples for analysis and perform additional testing such as Karl Fischer, weight loss and other test methods as assigned.
- Take on additional tasks as mutually agreed, subject to team capacity.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field of Science.
- At least 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in laboratory setting, or a fresh graduate with relevant academic background.
- Experience in conducting chemical and/or physical lab tests preferred.
- Ability to facilitate team activities, provide support to team members and demonstrate ownership of work goals.
- Basic problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions on routine matters based on given information and guidelines.
- Proficient in English both written and verbally.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a part of collaborative team on-site at the customer facility.
