Job Description

Role Overview

The role will lead the end-to-end strategy, portfolio management, and risk governance for lending solutions tailored to PFS clients. The role encompasses secured lending across securities-backed financing such as (Lombard/SBL), unit trusts, treasury products such as bonds and structured notes, insurance. Ensuring prudent risk management, regulatory compliance, and commercial growth.

You will partner closely with relationship Managers, Product Teams, Risk, Legal/Compliance, and Credit teams to deliver client-centric lending solutions aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

1) Strategy & Growth

  • Define and execute the Wealth Lending strategy across PFS (e.g., securities-backed lending such as portfolio financing, insurance premium financing)

  • Build pipelines with RMs and market heads, focusing on wallet share growth, cross-sell (investments, FX, deposits), and sticky balance sheet development

  • Lead product marketing, pricing frameworks, and client education on efficient leverage and risk.

2) Portfolio Management

  • Own the P&L of the Wealth Lending portfolio: optimize yields, utilization, and risk-adjusted return on capital (RORWA)

  • Monitor portfolio concentrations, counterparty exposures, collateral quality, margin utilization, and limit adherence (single-name, industry, geography, instrument)

  • Oversee margining frameworks (initial/maintenance margins), eligibility lists, haircuts, and revaluation cadences for marketable securities

  • Lead wealth lending command centre during market stress - driving client communications, senior management reporting and front-line guidance

3) Risk & Governance

  • Adhere to robust credit underwriting standards, collateral eligibility policies, and haircut schedules across asset classes (equities, bonds, funds, structured notes).

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, cross-border rules, booking policies, and the Bank’s risk appetite.

  • Lead periodic stress testing, scenario analysis (e.g., market drawdowns, liquidity shocks), and early warning indicators (EWI) design.

  • Chair or actively participate in Credit Committees/Product Committees, presenting deals, exceptions, and portfolio themes.

4) Product Development & Innovation

  • Develop and enhance Wealth Lending products: Lombard lines, purpose/non-purpose facilities, portfolio-backed lines, and tailored structured solutions (e.g., concentration add-ons, ring-fenced collateral).

  • Digitize front-to-back processes (e.g., eligibility checks, margin calls, drawdown approvals), and implement real-time exposure monitoring and margin alerting.

  • Partner with Credit, Risk & Technology and Operations to streamline KYC, documentation, and collateral management workflows.

5) Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Partner with RMs, Investment Counsellors, and Product Specialists to structure client solutions (e.g., financing against diversified portfolios, monetization strategies, liquidity lines).

  • Engage with senior leadership to align lending strategy with Group Wealth priorities and share market insights and risk posture updates.

  • Support complex client cases, negotiations, and high-value approvals; provide training and guidance to front-office teams.

6) Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of credit and product professionals; foster a strong risk culture and client-first ethos.

  • Drive performance management, capability building (credit structuring, margin analytics), and succession planning.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years in Wealth Lending / Securities-Backed Lending / Private Banking Credit, including leadership of wealth portfolio management preferred.

  • Expertise in marketable securities collateral, margining, haircuts, and portfolio risk across equities, fixed income, funds, and structured products.

  • Strong understanding of cross-border regulatory frameworks, and booking governance.

  • Proven track record in portfolio growth, credit risk control, and exception management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA/CFA/FRM preferred.
