For Senior Software engineers, we expect you to have around 6 years or at least 5 years engineering experience. You should be able to demonstrate more in - depth understanding in the complexity of projects and the design of code systems.
For SDE2 engineers, we expect you to have around 3 years or at least 2 years engineering experience. You should be able to solve problems related to coding and system design independently.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer at Airwallex, you will join our Engineering Productivity team on a mission to turn everyday software engineers into superheroes by delivering frictionless engineering platforms. You will operate with high ownership, taking initiatives from ideation to production in a fast-paced environment to improve the developer experience for hundreds of engineers.
What you will do:
- Enhance Productivity with AI: Utilize AI and machine learning tools to automate repetitive developer tasks and improve code quality and service reliability.
- Optimize CI/CD: Design and enhance pipelines to reduce build times and increase deployment frequency across global teams.
- Platform Engineering: Build and maintain scalable services including messaging platforms, observability systems, and workflow automation tools.
- Operational Excellence: Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident management practices; participate in on-call rotations and lead postmortems for P1/P2 incidents.
- Collaborate Cross-functionally: Partner with domain teams to identify bottlenecks and deliver solutions that measurably improve engineering efficiency.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Extensive understanding of the software development lifecycle, with experience building CI/CD pipelines or developer tooling at scale.
- Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, Kotlin, Rust, or Node.js.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Aliyun) and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform).
- Solid understanding of messaging systems (e.g., Kafka) and high-performance microservices architecture.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience leveraging AI/ML tools or LLMs (e.g., Cursor, Copilot) to enhance developer workflows.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or ELK stack.
- A data-driven approach to measuring productivity using metrics like build times or deployment frequency.
