About EDB
The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), a government agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, is responsible for strategies that enhance Singapore’s position as a global centre for business, innovation and talent. We undertake investment promotion and industry development, and work with international businesses by providing information, connection to partners and access to government incentives for their investments. About Innovation Strategy and Partnerships (ISP) – Innovation Systems
The Innovation Strategy & Partnerships division in EDB charts the agency’s vision towards an innovation-led economy by developing strategies to enhance the innovation ecosystem for foreign companies to create new products, services and businesses in Singapore. This includes analysing metrics to track Singapore’s progress in innovation, developing frameworks, tools and incentive schemes, and collaborating across internal teams and other government agencies to co-create solutions to advance Singapore’s innovation agenda.

[What you will be working on]

[Strategy Development]

Develop and co-create solutions to strengthen Singapore as an innovation economy:

  • Identify, through research and stakeholder engagement, potential gaps in Singapore’s innovation ecosystem (e.g. partnerships, intellectual property, etc.)

  • Analyse and synthesise findings to characterise innovation gaps, challenges and needs  

  • Develop value propositions and co-create solutions to strengthen Singapore as an innovation economy, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. industry groups in EDB, other government agencies and industry partners)

[Planning and Data Analysis]

Review, refine and develop Singapore’s overall strategy in innovation:

  • Analyse project data to define EDB’s contributions to innovation and characterise industry/ company needs

  • Measure outcomes of our R&D and innovation policies and map Singapore’s strengths in innovation

Note that this is an individual contributor role. You may also need to perform secretariat duties and support agenda setting for inter-agency platforms.

[What we are looking for]

  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience in design thinking, strategy/ product development, innovation, IP/ technology commercialisation, corporate planning and/ or policy analysis.  

  • Skillset in quantitative data analysis (e.g. Excel, Tableau, Python etc.) will be a plus.

  • Passionate about developing levers to strengthen Singapore’s innovation economy

  • Keen sense of business acumen with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills

  • Resourceful with a self-starter mindset and strong ability to develop and execute ideas and initiatives

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage and influence senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.  

  • Strong team player in an agile environment who is versatile and open to learn, explore and experiment

  • Singaporean
