What you'll do

  • Lead and manage end-to-end KYC, AML and client due diligence activities across onboarding, periodic reviews, trigger-event reviews, change-in-circumstances reviews and account closures.

  • Provide subject matter expertise across individual, legal entity, trust and other client structures, ensuring documentation, screening, source of wealth, source of funds, tax documentation and risk assessments are complete, accurate and policy compliant.

  • Oversee client risk assessments, adverse media reviews, sanctions considerations, transaction activity assessments and enhanced due diligence requirements, escalating higher-risk or complex matters as appropriate.

  • Act as an escalation point for complex KYC/AML cases, policy exceptions, documentation gaps, control issues and stakeholder challenges, driving matters to resolution while maintaining strong control standards.

  • Partner closely with Front Office, Compliance, Legal, Tax, Operations, Technology and global AML/KYC teams to resolve onboarding or review issues, improve service levels and strengthen the client experience.

  • Track pipelines, outstanding documentation, remediation actions, risks and delays, and produce clear management information, KPI reporting and governance updates.

  • Support audits, Compliance reviews and governance forums by providing accurate records, evidence and commentary on KYC/AML processes, controls and exceptions.

  • Challenge existing processes and lead improvement initiatives, including process re-engineering, workflow enhancements, automation opportunities and operating model improvements.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in KYC, AML, client due diligence, financial crime, onboarding or lifecycle management within a regulated financial services environment.

  • Strong understanding of AML/KYC, Customer Due Diligence, Enhanced Due Diligence and regulatory requirements relevant to Wealth Management and Private Banking clients, including HKMA and/or MAS expectations.

  • Experience managing complex client structures, including individuals, corporates, trusts, intermediaries or other legal entities, and assessing associated ownership, control, source of wealth and source of funds considerations.

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to assess client risk, identify financial crime or regulatory concerns and make sound, well-documented decisions.

  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge Front Office submissions or escalate matters where evidence does not meet policy or regulatory requirements.

  • Strong attention to detail, documentation quality and data integrity, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against service levels.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Law or another relevant discipline.

  • Direct experience within Wealth Management, Private Banking or a similar high-net-worth client environment.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that’ll help

  • Professional AML/KYC or financial crime certification, such as CAMS or ICA.

  • Practical knowledge of FATCA, CRS, AEOI and tax documentation requirements.

  • Experience leading process improvement, automation, workflow tooling, operating model redesign or transformation initiatives in a regulated environment.

  • Fluency in written and spoken Mandarin would be advantageous.
