Own end-to-end delivery of AI and autonomous robotics inspection solutions for maritime and offshore clients. Lead technical discovery, solution design, project delivery, client advisory, stakeholder alignment, vendor collaboration, and user adoption. Direct computer vision, perception, sensor fusion, SLAM, anomaly detection, cloud AI, MLOps, security, and data governance practices while reviewing architecture, validating model performance, supporting proposals, and guiding production deployment.
The AI/Robotics Engineer owns the end-to-end delivery of advanced AI and autonomous inspection solutions for the maritime and offshore industries. This includes client problem definition and all the way through production deployment and adoption.
This is a combined role, consisting of development, delivery and advisory. You will work with cross-functional teams, serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, and be jointly accountable for scope, schedule, and quality of project outcomes. You will bring sufficient hands-on depth in robotics perception, computer vision, and cloud AI to direct technical decisions, challenge design choices, and communicate credibly with clients, class surveyors, and engineering leadership.
What You Will Do
Project Participation & Delivery
- Participate in the delivery of AI and robotics projects end to end — scope, milestones, resourcing, risk, and acceptance criteria — and be accountable for meeting committed deliverables.
- Identify business and operational problems, and translate them into structured technical workstreams with clear success metrics.
- Participate in project management activities; manage backlog priority, dependencies, and trade-offs between scope, quality, and timeline.
- Track and report project health, technical risk, and benefit realization to program and functional leadership.
Client Engagement & Technical Advisory
- Serve as the trusted technical advisor to clients and internal business units on AI, computer vision, and autonomous inspection — including feasibility assessment, solution options, and field-deployment limitations.
- Run discovery sessions, requirements workshops, and solution walkthroughs with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support business development with technical scoping, proposal input, effort estimation, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
- Present results and recommendations to senior stakeholders; convert pilot outcomes into adoption and scale-up plans.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management
- Align engineering, data, product, operations, and class/technical functions around a common delivery plan.
- Manage vendor, partner, and academic collaborations, including statements of work and deliverable acceptance.
- Drive change management and user adoption — training, documentation, handover, and post-deployment support models.
Technical Direction & Governance
- Provide inputs to the technical approach and consult for perception and AI workstreams: sensor fusion (camera + LiDAR), SLAM, defect and anomaly detection, and image recognition for structural inspection.
- Review architecture and code, validate model performance and evaluation methodology, and ensure solutions are production-ready on Microsoft Azure or equivalent.
- Ensure MLOps, CI/CD, security, and data governance standards are applied across projects.
- Participate in dashboard development and visualization engineering.
- Prototype and de-risk new capabilities where hands-on work accelerates a decision.
- Collaborate with fellow engineers and raise overall engineering standards within the team.
