Our Journey

ShopBack started as a spark of inspiration one night in 2014 when Henry and Joel were brainstorming ideas in Henry’s car. That lightbulb moment — earning Cashback while shopping online — was just the beginning. Fueled by the countless possibilities, the team locked themselves in a hotel room for 24 hours to code the very first prototype. Their mission? To revolutionize shopping by helping advertisers market more cost-effectively, while making every purchase more rewarding for shoppers.

Today, ShopBack is the leading shopping, rewards, and payments platform in Asia-Pacific, empowering 45 million shoppers across 12 markets. With 20,000+ partners and over half a million transactions daily, we’re redefining the way the world shops. As we expand globally, we’re looking for adventurous, driven individuals to help us build The World’s Most Rewarding Way to Shop.

Who we're looking for

At ShopBack, we handle a lot of data that can tell us about the way shoppers make buying decisions and the data team is responsible for collecting, processing and organizing these large amounts of data. We then analyze these complex datasets to draw out practical findings and data solutions that different stakeholders can utilise to enhance the ShopBack experience.

As a Data Analyst, you will see a direct link between your work, company growth, and user satisfaction. You will partner with different stakeholders to build scalable end-to-end solutions that provide metrics and critical business insights, and help steer our teams towards making informed data-driven decisions. Your work has a direct impact on millions of shoppers in the 12 markets ShopBack operates in and is pivotal in driving the direction and future success of ShopBack.

Your Adventure Ahead

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business/product direction and build strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders
  • Strong ownership of the end to end analytics cycle; identify and quantify issues and opportunities to guide decision making, create suitable success metrics to measure the impact of actions, and create appropriate monitoring to enable rapid feedback and iteration
  • Build scalable data solutions, identify areas for improvement in current processes and implement frameworks to enable scale
  • Champion of good data practices - analytics as code, documentation and knowledge sharing. Provide mentorship to junior members of the team
  • Build a strong understanding of ShopBack’s data ecosystems within the internal teams and promote a self-service analytics culture

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in an analytics / data science function, with experience in end-to-end services, which includes data gathering, analysis and scalable deliverables, preferably in a fast-moving environment with large, complex and high velocity data.
  • Strong foundation in using SQL to clean data, automate workflow and analyse data
  • Proven track record of using data to influence business outcomes and processes
  • Excellent communication skills to convey built data solutions to stakeholders
  • Analytical mind and strong business acumen to discover patterns and trends and to create recommendations based on findings
