Job Description

Job Description

We’re looking for a Data Analyst who is passionate about Wise’s mission of Money Without Borders and who will partner with our global Compliance teams to help us on our journey to Mission Zero!

You will join the Compliance & Internal Audit Analytics team who will develop and own the reporting layer for Compliance activities to give assurance to the Board and our regulators that we are effectively managing the risks we face.

You will do this by partnering very closely with Compliance in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region to ensure they can execute against the compliance regulatory reporting schedule, as well as leveraging data to proactively monitor risks. These activities include regulatory reporting - both routine and ad hoc, as well as compliance monitoring and testing.

This is an IC2 role. For more information on our Analytics Career Map and levelling structure, click here.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Partnering with Compliance in providing assurance that 1st line is effectively managing risks, primarily focused in the APAC region, but with the opportunity to partner with other regions when required.

  • Help build a world-class Compliance Analytics team that fosters high trust with our customers and external partners.

  • Enable self-serve analytics by creating intuitive, scalable data models and tools (e.g. Dashboards), helping stakeholders quickly find the insights they need.

  • Drive analytics for regulatory reporting, translating requirements, validating outputs to submissions

  • Working on opportunities where automated Compliance monitoring would be highly impactful

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Be part of a positive change in the world. Wise is fixing a broken financial system, and putting people and businesses in control of their money

  • Help build a world-class Compliance Analytics team that fosters high trust with our customers and external partners.

  • Travel when needed to our offices across the globe to connect with local compliance experts.

  • Learn from a global network of professionals. We have a large, diverse team of analysts, data scientists and Compliance partners that you will work with and learn from.

Qualifications

A bit about you:

  • You're proficient in SQL and comfortable working with relational databases.

  • You have knowledge of data modeling fundamentals and ideally some experience designing and implementing data structures.

  • You have experience with designing and owning data assets; you can build and maintain complex data sources and can leverage visualisation tools (Looker, Superset, etc) to surface insights

  • You understand the importance of data integrity, quality & governance. You know how to produce comprehensive data documentation

  • You're a clear communicator who can simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical teammates, document assumptions clearly, and influence cross-functional partners across Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering.

  • You have stakeholder management skills; you know how to collaborate with key partners to get the job done

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and care about doing things the right ways

  • You have 3+ years of analytics experience

Bonus:

  • You have an understanding of how analytics can be used within Compliance to provide assurance over the effectiveness of risk management

  • You have experience with using data engineering tools (GitHub, Airflow etc.)

  • You have experience with data modelling and tooling dbt (models, tests, docs, macros) and a modern data warehouse (BigQuery, Databricks, or Snowflake); able to own a data model end-to-end, not just query existing tables

  • Knowledge of python for data analysis
