How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The Capital Risk Solutions (“CRS”) team provides credit and political risk insurance to commercial and investment banks, multilateral development banks, and export credit agencies. The global team is located in London, Singapore, Zurich, and Bermuda, with an underwriting strategy that focuses primarily on project finance, aircraft finance, significant risk transfer, and other structured credit transactions. CRS is a global leader in the asset classes that it focuses on.

As a Senior Credit Analyst, you will provide comprehensive analytical support to the Underwriting team, supporting new and prospective transactions across CRS core markets in close cooperation with the wider CRS team, and playing a key role in our objective of building a profitable, global portfolio of credit risk for AXIS.

The role will enable you to develop a strong depth of knowledge and understanding of AXIS’ analytical and underwriting philosophy. You will be an integral member of the Portfolio Management and Risk Analytics team, contributing to the overall success and profitability of the company. Your responsibilities will support AXIS underwriters in delivering optimal customer service and product offerings that directly meet clients’ needs, as we continue to build on our growth as a leading specialty insurer and global reinsurer.

What will you do in this role?

  • Work on project finance, aircraft, significant risk transfer and structured credit transactions
  • Undertake ongoing portfolio monitoring and reporting and provide analytical support for documentation waivers, amendments, and related credit approvals.
  • Review financing and project documentation to support transaction due diligence, perform credit analysis and assign internal ratings for new transactions
  • Support colleagues in marketing activities, as required.
  • Working with portfolio management and underwriter colleagues to contribute to portfolio management reporting, including monthly and quarterly reports, targeted credit and industry analysis, and portfolio stress testing, in collaboration with underwriters
  • Under supervision of manager, conduct modelling and due diligence of portfolio transactions, including Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) transactions, using modelling tools, working with credit pricing actuary.
  • Contribute to periodic SRT reporting, working with various internal stakeholders.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and analytical assignments as directed by the Head of CRS, Head of Portfolio Management and Risk Analytics, and line manager.

About You:

What we need you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Accountancy, or a non-business degree with a CFA qualification and/or coursework in accountancy and/or statistics and analytics
  • CFA charter holder preferred, or in the advanced stages of the CFA programme.
  • FRM qualification is a plus.
  • 4–8 years of experience in credit analysis within corporate banking or a rating agency, preferably in project finance and/or structured finance.
  • Experience in the energy (oil & gas, renewables, conventional power) and/or infrastructure sectors would be an advantage.

What we prefer you to have:

  • Previous experience in origination or relationship management within a corporate banking environment is an advantage.
  • Openness to learning about new industries and financing structures.
  • Strong demonstration of initiative, interpersonal skills, and professional demeanour.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to support transactions across global offices and manage multiple transactions concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise messages.
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to deliver high-quality work in a timely manner.
  • High degree of proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Excel and VBA macros is an advantage.
  • Experience in AI tools would be an advantage

Role Factors:

In this role, you will typically be required to:

  • Embrace AXIS’ hybrid working culture offered, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
  • Work additional hours as required by business and client needs.
  • Attend broker and customer meetings as required.
  • Travel as required.
