Senior Backend Engineer, Stablecoin Platform

You’ll build stablecoin infrastructure from the ground up, enabling customers and internal systems to buy, hold, send, and settle with tokenised currency globally.

• Design and implement secure systems for key management, transaction signing, gas fee management, and blockchain integration.

• Own services across the full lifecycle of stablecoin transactions, including minting, burning, transfers, and reconciliation.

• Build internal ledgering systems that track balances across multiple chains and token types.

• Integrate stablecoin infrastructure with Airwallex’s existing FX and payment systems to enable seamless conversion between supported currencies and stablecoins.

• Write, review, and ship production code while partnering with Product, Infrastructure, and Compliance to deliver reliable and auditable services.

You’ll work from our Singapore office five days a week.

• Five or more years of experience as a software engineer, with deep expertise in object-oriented design and production-grade software development.

• Strong experience with at least one strongly typed language, such as Kotlin, Java, C#, C++, or Rust. Python experience is useful but isn’t sufficient on its own.

• Proven experience building and integrating blockchain infrastructure, such as wallets, transaction flows, or key management, into larger financial systems.

• Experience integrating new systems into legacy or distributed environments without introducing instability or regressions.

• Strong understanding of secure system design, particularly private key handling, signing, encryption, and operational controls.

• Ability to quickly pick up unfamiliar tools or frameworks and adjust to changing technical priorities.

• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and non-technical teams.

• Experience in FX, payments, or financial infrastructure.

• You're comfortable owning the roadmap yourself.

• You own the outcome and you don't wait for permission to fix what's broken.

• You're comfortable with ambiguity. Give you a problem, not a prescription, and you'll run with it.

• You hold yourself to a high standard even when no one is watching. Quality and accountability aren't external expectations, they're internal ones.

• You say what you mean. You're direct, but you lead with respect.

• You’re comfortable operating across time zones with a globally distributed team, including colleagues based in APAC and EMEA.

Financial Markets at Airwallex is where foreign exchange, liquidity, and stablecoin capabilities come together to power the movement of money globally. We build the real-time pricing, execution, and risk systems behind FX across 60+ currencies, the platforms that manage cash positioning, safeguarding, and liquidity across our global financial network, and the infrastructure for stablecoin-powered payments and treasury operations. Engineers work closely with Treasury, Financial Operations, Financial Partnerships, Product, and Compliance to solve hard problems in distributed systems and global payments.
