We are seeking to hire a Research Scientist to support an advanced research programme on vector search on high-dimensional vectors. This role directly contributes to NTU’s mission of advancing cutting-edge AI technologies by developing next-generation methods that improve the performance, reliability, and efficiency of vector search systems.

The Research Scientist will contribute to translating research outcomes into practical sustainability standards methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop quantitative sustainability indicators and performance metrics for sustainability living and smart communities.

  • Design data-driven assessment methodologies for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance evaluation.

  • Develop AI-enabled measurement and monitoring frameworks for sustainability applications.

  • Build digital tools for sustainability data collection, validation, visualization, and reporting.

  • Apply machine learning, optimization, and statistical analysis to evaluate sustainability performance.

  • Design trustworthy AI methodologies to ensure transparency, robustness, fairness, and reproducibility in sustainability assessments.

  • Conduct literature reviews, design experiments/surveys in sustainability, data collection and analysis, develop and test the statistical and computational models for the metrics.

  • Coordinate with research team and communicate with collaborators

  • Prepare research proposals, technical reports, scientific publications, arising from the research.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.

  • Strong research background in machine learning, optimization, AI systems, or data analytics.

  • Experience developing quantitative evaluation methodologies or performance metrics.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and modern AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face).

  • Experience with optimization algorithms, statistical modelling, or large-scale data analysis.

  • Excellent scientific writing and publication record.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
