Key Job Purpose:

We are looking for an early-career Analytical Specialist to support its analytical field laboratory operations across a range of energy research projects. The candidate will be responsible for the accurate measurement and analysis of inorganic samples using a suite of laboratory and online analytical instruments. This role is integral to maintaining high-quality data streams that underpin research in areas such as seawater electrolysis, water parameter sampling and control, carbon dioxide removal, hydrogen production, and advanced energy materials. The Analytical Specialist will work closely with process engineers, research scientists, and project teams to deliver reliable analytical data and contribute to ERI@N's mission of translating research into real-world energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inorganic analytical measurements on grab and online samples, including ion chromatography (IC), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), titration, TGA, XRD and pH/conductivity measurements

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments in accordance with standard operating procedures and manufacturer guidelines

  • Collect, process, and review analytical data; perform quality checks and flag anomalous results for investigation

  • Prepare calibration standards, reagents, and reference solutions to support analytical programmes

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all analytical activities, calibration logs, and instrument maintenance in laboratory logs.

  • Support the development and validation of new analytical methods for novel sample matrices (aqueous based) encountered in energy research

  • Collaborate with process and mechanical research teams to integrate measurements and data into process improvement cycles

  • Monitor and calibrate online sensors and analysers integrated into process test rigs, ensuring data integrity and instrument uptime

  • Contribute to the safe management of the analytical laboratory, including chemical handling, waste disposal, and compliance with EHS requirements

  • Assist in compiling analytical results into technical reports and presentations for research and project teams

  • Participate in inter-laboratory comparisons or proficiency testing exercises as required

Job Requirements:

Required educational qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline. Relevant polytechnic diploma with substantial analytical laboratory experience may also be considered.

Required experience:

3-5 years of practical experience in an analytical laboratory environment, preferably with exposure to inorganic analysis techniques. Fresh graduates with strong laboratory coursework and project experience are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with Singapore’s NEA and PUB discharge compliance parameters is desirable.

Required skills and competencies:

  • Hands-on experience with inorganic analytical techniques including IC, ICP-OES/MS, titration, and electrochemical measurements (pH, conductivity, DO)

  • Familiarity with grab sampling protocols and online process analyzer operation and maintenance

  • Proficiency in data processing, trend analysis, and reporting using standard software (e.g., Excel, Other industry standards)

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and laboratory best practices

  • Knowledge of GLP/GMP principles and experience maintaining calibration and maintenance records

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced research environment

  • Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning new techniques and methods
