We are seeking a motivated Research Associate to support a research project focused on the modelling, design, fabrication, and control of soft robotic grippers for manufacturing applications. The successful candidate will contribute to both theoretical development and hands-on experimentation within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement models and simulations for soft robotic gripper designs
Design and optimise soft gripper structures for manufacturing use cases
Fabricate and prototype soft robotic systems using appropriate materials and techniques
Develop and implement control strategies for soft actuators and grippers
Plan and conduct experiments, testing, and performance evaluations
Analyse experimental data and prepare technical reports, publications, and presentations
Collaborate with team members and contribute to project milestones
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field
Candidates with relevant academic training or project experience in:
Mechanical design
Robotics or mechatronics systems
Solid mechanics or soft materials
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Good written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills (Optional)
Experience with CAD/CAE tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Abaqus, ANSYS)
Knowledge of soft robotics, finite element analysis, or control systems
Hands-on experience in prototyping, fabrication, or experimental setups
Programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++)
