The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Position Available: Research Associate in Geometric Data Science

Join the laboratory of Dr Cyrus Mostajeran at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. We are seeking a Research Associate to contribute to the research agenda of the project ‘Geometric Optimization and Design in Learning and Robotics'.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Obtaining rigorous mathematical results at the interface of geometry, analysis, and data science

  • Designing, implementing, and testing algorithms

  • Engaging in scientific exchange with collaboration partners of the project

  • Preparing reports, scientific papers, and presentations

  • Project duration: 6 months

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering

  • Advanced knowledge of one or more of the following areas: analysis, differential geometry, optimization, mechanics, biophysics, robotics, control theory

  • Enthusiasm for applying advanced mathematical tools and techniques to applications including data science and robotics

  • Good communication skills
