About the RoleTHE ROLE
We are seeking an Equity Research Associate (RA) to join our Global Industry Research Financials team in Singapore. In this role, you will work closely with a senior Global Industry Analyst to support research coverage of the Asia Financials sector. The ideal candidate is an intellectually curious, proactive, and collaborative investor with a strong interest in Asian financial institutions and the investment management industry. Research is at the core of Wellington's investment process, and this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful
contribution to the firm's ability to generate alpha through differentiated research and deep sector expertise. The position provides significant scope for professional development, intellectual challenge, and long-term career growth within a collaborative global investment platform.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct ongoing fundamental research and due diligence on companies across the Asia financials sector, maintaining a deep understanding of industry developments, competitive dynamics, and investment implications.
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models, valuation frameworks, peer analysis, and industry knowledge to support the analysis of existing holdings and prospective investment opportunities.
• Attend company meetings, industry conferences, and other relevant events to develop differentiated insights into emerging industry trends, structural changes, and investment opportunities. Partner with the Global Industry
Analyst to translate these insights into actionable research and investment recommendations.
• Prepare high-quality written research and communicate investment recommendations to the Global Industry Research Financials team and the broader investment platform.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
We are seeking a motivated and intellectually curious team player with a passion for the Financials sector and investing across Asia markets. This role is well suited to an individual with strong analytical and financial modelling skills who is eager to contribute to Wellington's Global Industry Research team.
The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative investment environment, building trusted relationships with colleagues across global investment teams. They will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and contribute thoughtfully to an open and rigorous investment dialogue. The successful candidate is likely to possess the following qualifications and characteristics:
• Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record.
• CFA designation or progress toward completing the CFA Program is preferred.
• Approximately 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in buy-side or sell-side equity research. Experience in covering the Financials sector is preferred.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, including the effective use of AI and other investment research tools to enhance the research process.
• Sound judgement, a strong work ethic, and the highest standards of personal and professional integrity.
• A disciplined, bottom-up approach to fundamental investment research.
• Intellectual humility, resilience, and the willingness to challenge existing views and learn from mistakes.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively across experienced, cross-functional investment teams.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and make decisions in situations of uncertainty.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Full fluency in spoken and written English is essential; Mandarin proficiency is highly preferred.
