The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) is spearheaded by the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS). It aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.

The Climate Transformation Programme–Sustainable Societies Cluster works collaboratively across the CTP themes from Climate and Biodiversity, Mitigation, to Climate Processes and Extremes, to develop a suite of programmes that form a synergistic relay of interdisciplinary research and external outreach. The initiatives aim to cultivate a critical multiplicity of voices, perspectives, and knowledges from both within and outside academic realms in the formation of ‘Sustainable Societies’ that engage with questions of climate change.

The position supports the Sustainable Societies (Arts Sub-Group) Cross-Cutting Cluster under the MOE Tier 3c Climate Transformation Programme (CTP). The CTP is spearheaded by the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS). The Sustainable Societies (Arts Sub-Group) Cluster is co-led by Principal Investigator (PI) Professor Laura Miotto. Under the supervision of Professor Miotto, the position serves as a key contact in coordinating projects and initiatives led by the cluster, from the administration and preparation of materials for reporting to the coordination of internal and external stakeholders. The role will assist in general administration and coordinate with various NTU departments as required, from the Finance department to the Administrative Office of EOS. The role will also contribute to content development and the organization of research and educational public programmes such as the Climate Transformation: Sustainable Societies Lecture Series and adjacent gatherings.

This position is for an 8-month contract. The candidate will be based at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore at Gillman Barracks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key administrative contact for various project stakeholders such as co-investigators, local and international collaborators, research fellows and other internal and external parties, including vendors.

  • Provide general administrative support, day to day management, and organisational logistics of the research project.

  • Prepare all project materials for all reporting obligations (both grantor and NTU) and ensure timely completion and submission.

  • Assist in the preparation of field trips in all matters, ranging from visa to travel and accommodation arrangements.

  • Assist Research Associate/Research Fellow/PI in data management and executions of any meetings, conference and exhibitions where necessary.

  • Undertake any other duties relevant to the research project such as corresponding with stakeholders and working with other departments (e.g. Finance and event management)

  • Support the PI, as well as the Co-I in all grant administration matters.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science, arts or humanities discipline.

  • Demonstrated professional experience in academic, research or educational institutions.

  • Strong skills in organisation/administration, project and time management in order to meet competing deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and collaborators.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe CS, social media programmes

  • Demonstrated writing skills for grant applications.

  • Experience with A/V equipment assisting with video and audio recording.

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
