We are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated Research Assistant to work under the supervision of a Project Manager. The role will focus to support the communication and translation of various research outcomes to various stakeholder groups, including but not limited to the public, government agencies, and NGOs through clear, engaging and evidence-based content and outreach activities. As ASE and EOS together form an interdisciplinary research and education ecosystem, the incumbent may also be required to support with content development and communications activities related to Asian School of the Environment (ASE). The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University is an interdisciplinary school that aims to be a world leader in environmental research focused on Asian environmental challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate social media and digital content on topics related to geohazards, environment, and the funded research projects.

  • Research and evaluate effective science communication strategies, including the potential role of Generative AI in facilitating science communication of research topics to diverse audiences.

  • Support the research group in science communication and outreach activities.

  • Assist with stakeholder engagement activities related to earthquake hazards, disaster response, and sea-level rise.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related discipline.

  • Background in art, design or digital media, with familiarity or interest in environmental science.

  • Strong design and copywriting skills, with a deep understanding of digital culture and social media trends and the ability to create engaging content for student and young adult audiences.

  • Ability to work methodically and collaboratively, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Canva, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, and other relevant video editing tools.

  • Proficiency in photography, photo editing, and videography using mirrorless and DSLR cameras.

  • Existing networks or connection with nature, climate action, or environmental communities in Singapore and/or Southeast Asia.
