Job Description

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success. 

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

Embark on this exciting opportunity as a Relationship Director within Global Corporates Coverage, where you will play a pivotal role originating, managing, and expanding relationships with a portfolio of:-

  • Temasek-linked Companies (TLCs)/Government-Linked Companies (GLCs)
  • SGX-listed corporates
  • Large private enterprises

You will build trusted relationships with senior executives, identify and originate opportunities across the Barclays platform, and coordinate coverage activities across product and geographic teams to deliver integrated solutions that address clients’ evolving needs. You will collaborate closely with product partners, regional coverage teams, and internal stakeholders to deepen client engagement, drive sustainable revenue growth, and support the firm’s broader corporate banking strategy. You will also ensure that all client coverage and business development activities are conducted in line with the firm’s risk, legal, compliance, and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities:-

  • Lead coverage for Global Corporates in Southeast Asia and RTCs for large Asian multinational corporates.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with CEOs, CFOs, Treasurers
  • Develop and execute account plans to deepen wallet share across the Barclays franchise.
  • Develop new business, retain and manage a portfolio of clients, develop strong, long-term relationships
  • There will be a strong emphasis to identify and drive business development – both in terms of new business with existing customers as well as new customers
  • The prime objective is to maximise sustainable Revenue growth via Treasury Coverage across Lending, Trade & Working Capital, Deposits leading to x/sell via Corp Sales, DCM and Advisory
  • Coordinate global coverage teams to support clients' cross-border growth ambitions, especially with Group Relationship Directors (GRD) of APAC-headquartered multinational corporations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of corporate banking relationship management experience.
  • Proven track record covering:

o   Large Singapore corporates

o   GLCs / TLCs

o   Listed companies

o   Large privately-owned groups

  • Strong relationships with C-Suite and Treasury decision makers.
  • Deep understanding of:

o   Treasury and transaction banking

o   Credit and lending

o   Capital markets

o   Corporate Sales

  • Experience covering Malaysia, Indonesia and/or Thailand corporates will be a bonus
  • Demonstrated origination capability and ability to independently manage a portfolio.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial judgement, credit skills and transaction execution experience.
  • Experience coordinating multiple product partners to deliver integrated solutions.
