Join Fortinet, a cybersecurity pioneer with over two decades of excellence, as we continue to shape the future of cybersecurity and redefine the intersection of networking and security. At Fortinet, our mission is to safeguard people, devices, and data everywhere. We are currently seeking a dynamic Regional Operational Technology Sales Engineer to contribute to the success of our rapidly growing business.

OT RSE with a focus on presales architecture, design and threat informed defence (enabled by FortiGuard Labs ANZ). Responsible for the development of robust OT security architecture [IEC 62443] thought leadership, strategy, threat, vulnerability & mitigation insights. Work closely with customers and industry partners to educate and support their understanding of our vision, security framework, technology differentiators, and cost benefits. Coordinate with appropriate internal groups to position and sell Fortinet cybersecurity solutions in the context of OT/CI specific security challenges, regulations and business and technology drivers

As a Regional Sales Engineer you will:

  • Dedicated Specialist for OT/CI design and architecture pre and post sales engagements.
  • Support marketing activities (speaking engagements, roundtables, media interviews).
  • Provide strategic advice based on threat informed defence (FortiGuard Labs).
  • Build, develop and re-enforce OT Technology Partners.
  • Enablement of OT Channel Business.
  • Develop and nurture the APAC OT/CI community (e.g. NZ OT Security Exchange Forum, NZ ICS Technical Network, OT CEP).
  • Assist customers along their OT security maturity journey (largely immature, especially compared to IT)
  • Incident Response & Forensic “Awareness”.
  • Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) Strategy. Expertise in securing the OT Supply Chain, specifically managing third-party remote access and software integrity for vendor updates.
  • Build on existing global and regional relationships with control vendors as they expand cyber capability into ANZ (Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Honeywell, ABB, Yokogawa, etc)
  • Maintain relationships with key OT fabric partners (Nozomi, Claroty, Dragos)
  • Collaborate with account managers to focus on markets where we have limited footprint e.g. healthcare, Defence.
  • Opportunity to expand our deployment of capabilities with OT accounts (SD-WAN, SRA, NDR, SIEM, SOAR, Deceptor Etc.)
  • Drive OT partner training and certification for partners with OT customers
  • Assist these partners with building out OT capability/practice (e.g. Datacom). Currently we have good IT partners with OT customers, but they have limited skillset/capability when it comes to OT, and in most cases the customer is driving the requirements.
  • Nurture and grow OT specific partners e.g. First Watch, SGS ECL.
  • Grow the capability to deliver solutions is a common theme, as is skill and resource constraints.
  • Capitalise on global relationships with OT partners, work together on joint opportunities/customers.
  • Build the brand with local OT references and case studies to show our success in the market. We have a good footprint within generation, transportation, and manufacturing with the majority of these being Fortinet driven deals. Limited bandwidth to do OT specific thought leadership as we are leveraging shared resources.
  •  Grow and nurture the OT community and continue to expand the OT Security Exchange Forum that has been successfully run across NZ in 2024. Work with partners and control vendors to continue this initiative.
  • We need the dedicated capability to focus on new OT business, as well as maintain and expand our footprint within our existing customers. There is a lot of opportunity going forwards to expand from IT/OT border firewalling to OT segmentation, switching, NAC, SIEM, Deceptor, Sandbox, NDR, SRA.

We Are Looking For:

An insightful and influential collaborator to join our team. We encourage you to apply for this position if you have the following qualities:

  • Strong leadership and effective governance across and within infrastructure sectors
  • Provision of coordinated long-term and national infrastructure development strategies.
  • Reform of complex regulatory and environmental approval processes to recognise the importance of strategic infrastructure investment.
  • "Bilingual" Executive Communication (IT/OT Translation). Proven ability to translate technical cyber risk into operational impact (safety, uptime, and environmental risk) for Plant Managers, and into financial/compliance risk for the C-Suite.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Literacy (APAC Specific). Deep working knowledge of regional critical infrastructure mandates, such as Australia’s SOCI Act (Security of Critical Infrastructure) or Singapore’s Cybersecurity Act. The RSE must be able to map Fortinet solutions directly to specific regulatory "obligations" to help customers avoid heavy fines.
  • Experience with incident response workflows in industrial environments, knowing what happens after a detection.
  • Hands-on "Purple Teaming" for OT. Ability to demonstrate/simulate OT-specific attack vectors (e.g., Modbus/TCP hijacking or S7Comm unauthorized commands) to prove the effectiveness of the security fabric.
