Purpose

Success in this role is focused on maintaining profitability and enhancing growth of the Leisure Travel portfolio through support of underwriting and Business Development teams across the region. 

As a key member of our Regional A&H underwriting team, you will provide strategic portfolio management and underwriting support to senior management for our Leisure Travel business. You will be responsible for management support related to underwriting, pricing, product development, portfolio management and revenue maximization projects.

As a regional manager you will provide best in class underwriting guidance and coaching, best practices and process improvements advice as well as thought leadership. Your ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across all levels of our business will be critical to your success.

Responsibilities

Case Underwriting (incl. RFP Responses)

  • Review and approve large cases in excess of local Authority that are sent to the Regional Office for A&H Leisure Travel business.

  • Refer to Home Office and/or senior management accounts that exceed Regional Authority.

  • Focus on large opportunities and new initiatives, including complex and unusual cases. 

  • Support the efforts of the business team to find solutions for complicated accounts.

 

Underwriting Authorities

  • Review and delegate the appropriate level of UW Authority to Underwriting Managers across the Region.

 

Training

  • Train Underwriting talent across APAC with the objective of developing skills that will warrant appropriate levels of local underwriting authority by holding regular training sessions 

  • Transmit to the rest of the Regional UW Team and to the local Underwriting Managers a pro-active problem-solving attitude, proposing alternatives to support growth initiatives.

  • Instigate cooperation and support of the production efforts - underwriters and Business Development working together towards the common goal of profitably growing our portfolios.

  • Inspire underwriters to become more technically proficient and to apply the technical knowledge to find optimal solutions to bind new accounts.

 

Audits

  • Conduct, coordinate or participate in Underwriting Audits according to the International A&H Audits Schedule, following the Audits standards set up by Home Office, and produce timely and accurate Audit Reports.

 

Revenue Maximization

  • Provide underwriting support on revenue maximization strategies by working closely with our business partners and internal stakeholders. Always seek to identify growth opportunities

 

Portfolio Management

  • Use the existing Reports and Tools to regularly monitor the A&H LTI Portfolio, identify trends, investigate causes of stress in the portfolios, and implement actions to meet profit targets.

  • Maintain a portfolio management strategy through detailed segmentation analysis and drive the portfolio management culture to be embedded within the underwriting team across countries

 

Account Management

  • Lead the Account Management efforts and liaise regularly with Home Office on progress made with corrective actions proposed and implemented.

  • Work together with the Regional Actuarial team to review key accounts across the Region, and recommend and implement appropriate product/pricing changes in line with growth and profitability targets. 

 

Production Targets

  • Support the efforts of the rest of the A&H team (Regional and at the Local level) in achieving not only the bottom-line objectives of the Yearly Plan, but also its production targets

Pricing & Rate Monitoring

  • Regular update on the product pricing by countries with support from A&H actuarial

  • Pricing includes base rate adjustment as well as update on the relativities of rating factors

  • Regular monitoring on the rate adequacy and implement actions

  • Ensure system developments to capture adequate exposure information

  • Drive product development to support the growth of the Leisure Travel business

 

Interaction with Home Office

  • Participate in regular communication with Home Office , prepare regular reports for the senior management, and coordinate the information that is regularly sent to Home Office.

Qualifications

Relevant Experience

  • A&H product knowledge, Leisure Travel pricing and product development experience      

  • Proven record of ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization across all levels of an organization. 

  • Possess strong influencing and interpersonal skills, honed in a demanding and high performing work environment. 


Technical Knowledge

  • Underwriting A&H accounts in a multinational environment.   

  • Underwriting and pricing experience

  • Insurance pricing and distribution and structuring programs

  • Audits

Behavioral Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
