The Quality Engineer supports quality assurance for products and processes, conducts audits, analyzes data, monitors compliance, and facilitates continuous improvement in an aerospace environment.
General Accountability
Reports Directly To: Manager, Quality Assurance & EHS
Provides quality assurance support for all company products and processes to ensure that the highest standards for quality are maintained. Monitors processes, develops improvements and interfaces with functional departments to achieve customer satisfaction and to resolve issues through cooperative methods.
Specific Accountabilities
Quality Assurance
- Analyzes, evaluates and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, remanufacturing problems, statistical trends and proposed process changes. Reviews factors in light of quality of product and reliability of quality during production.
- Conducts internal audits on departments and business units to ensure compliance with company instructions and policies. Assists external auditors from various quality associations.
- Research, compiles and reviews company procedures.
- Monitors, reviews and conducts sub-contractor audits in liaison with supplier development.
- Collects and analyzes quality data for the purpose of identifying trends with respect to non-conformance documents.
- Reports necessary information and offers solutions to production, materials and the company as a whole, to correct specification or process problems that are occurring.
- Monitors warranty procedures including investigation, root-cause, corrective action and follow-up to ensure that continuous improvement is occurring.
- Encourages and facilitates continuous improvement activities in the business units.
- Reviews engineering changes, technical product changes and production build classification amendments.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
EH&S
- Implement EHS management systems and ensure compliance to Corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections, perform risk assessments, collect, report and maintain records of all Safety and Environmental Requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering or Equivalent
- Minimum 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience in aerospace approved maintenance organization environment
- Trained in Air Legislations and Part 145 requirements.
- Trained in QMS AS9110/9100 and audit requirements. Certified AS9110/9100 Lead Assessor or equivalent is highly preferred
- Proficient in root cause analysis methods and Continuous Improvement techniques.
- Familiar with Workplace Safety and Health regulations. Certified Safety Officer is highly valued.
- Working experience or knowledge in special processes such as Heat Treatment, NDT, Thermal Spray, Chemical Processing and Welding preferred.
- Experience in metallurgy testing or certificate from Central Coatings Lab is most advantageous.
