Lead Project Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring that all project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for developing and executing project-specific quality plans, overseeing inspection and testing activities, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and contractual requirements. The role works closely with engineering, procurement, vendors, and third‑party inspection agencies to ensure that quality expectations are fully integrated across the project lifecycle. Additionally, the position drives continuous improvement initiatives through root cause analysis, lessons learned, and quality performance monitoring to support overall project excellence.
As a Lead Project Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Develop and implement Project Quality Plans (PQP), ITPs, and QC procedures in alignment with regulatory, customer, and corporate QMS requirements.
- Participate in project kick-off and design review meetings to ensure quality requirements are integrated with engineering and procurement.
- Review and approve vendor quality documentation prior to manufacturing and equipment delivery.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications (API, ASME, ISO, ASTM, NACE, DNV, etc.).
- Conduct internal, supplier, and subcontractor audits and coordinate with third‑party inspection and certification agencies.
- Manage non-conformances (NCRs) by ensuring timely investigation, corrective actions, and closure.
- Prepare QA/QC reports, documentation dossiers, and manage document control while leading meetings for issue resolution.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, root cause analysis, and monitoring of Quality KPIs.
To be successful in this role you need to:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant field (preferred).
- Have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in Quality roles within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy sectors.
- Have strong knowledge of the EPC project lifecycle and relevant international standards (ASME, API, ISO, DNV, etc.).
- Have experience with vendor inspections (preferred).
- Have certification in ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor and/or ASQ CQE (preferred).
- Have demonstrated expertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS), analytical problem‑solving, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action methods, with proficiency in quality management software and MS Office tools.
- Have strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across complex matrix organizations and multidisciplinary teams, perform under pressure, and meet project deadlines.
- Have hands‑on experience in welding and NDT inspection, supported by knowledge of HSE management systems and familiarity with digital inspection tools and data‑driven quality control methods.
