The Consulting Practice within the Government Technology Office of GovTech helps agencies resolve complex IT challenges and modernize systems with confidence. We bring together deep engineering, product, and design expertise to assess legacy environments, align stakeholders, and shape multi-year solutions that are human-centric, scalable, and delivered by GovTech and industry partners.
Each consulting member leads their own domain and works collaboratively with GovTech teams and agencies to address the government’s most critical technology challenges. As a founding member, you’ll also shape this growing practice while working on diverse and impactful problems in the public sector.

[What you will be working on]

As a Principal Product Manager Consultant, you will lead high-impact product engagements that span strategy, discovery, and delivery. Working across public sector and enterprise environments, you’ll guide clients from problem definition to solution implementation—owning engagements and delivering value at scale. You’ll apply strong product thinking, systems-level insight, and consulting acumen to shape solutions that are not just feasible, but truly impactful.

  • Lead end-to-end engagements, from discovery and framing through to product vision, roadmap, and implementation planning.
  • Drive innovation by aligning product solutions with strategic objectives—balancing user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them navigate complex product and technology challenges.
  • Influence the adoption of product and engineering best practices that support scalability, sustainability, and measurable impact.
  • Mentor product managers and other team members, shaping a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Represent the organization in cross-agency forums, communities of practice, or thought leadership events.

[You’ll thrive here if you]

  • Enjoy making sense of complex, ambiguous challenges
  • Translate technical concepts into clear, human language
  • Focus on outcomes and long-term value, not just deliverables
  • Influence through trust, clarity, and collaboration
  • Love working at the problem-definition stage

[What we are looking for]

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, consulting, or related roles, with a track record of leading complex initiatives across industries or public sector settings.
  • Proven ability to deliver impact in both greenfield and brownfield environments.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to connect business strategy to product execution.
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies, product discovery, user research, and iterative delivery.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills—able to engage confidently with C-level stakeholders and frontline teams alike.
  • Strong influence and collaboration skills, with experience working across organizational boundaries.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to create impact for public good
