About the team

We are looking for a Policy & Controls Compliance Advisory Manager experienced in the fintech and payment industry to implement and run the compliance programs across regulated APAC entities. You will be part of a team, working closely with the Head of Regulatory Compliance for APAC, to jointly build and maintain a robust regulatory compliance program in the APAC markets. This means you will be handling a wide variety of compliance-related matters, for existing regulated products and launching new products, and collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Stripe complies with its regulatory and licensing/registration obligations in APAC. 

What you’ll do

In your role as the APAC Policy & Controls Compliance Advisory Manager, based in Singapore, reporting to the Head of Regulatory Compliance for APAC, you will be responsible to: 

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage and maintain compliance policies and controls for common regulatory requirements in the APAC region. 
  • Collaborate with Country Compliance Officers to understand regulatory requirements across regions, identifying commonalities, so as to synergise and spin up relevant compliance programs applicable to at least two or more jurisdictions. 
  • Where a specific compliance program already exists, to advise and work with both Country Compliance Officers and Regulatory Obligation Owners to help them leverage on existing controls and processes to implement controls that would sufficiently meet the standards expected by the local regulators. 
  • Collaborate with Country Compliance Officers and Regulatory Obligation Owners to address gaps, and escalate to Senior Management and Board of Directors, as appropriate, promptly. If the gap affects at least two or more jurisdictions, to be the point of contact and responsible for tracking the completion of the remediation. 
  • Provide assistance to Country Compliance Officers and project manage the collation of feedback from internal stakeholders on public consultations issued by regulators.
  • Support Country Compliance Officers and project manage any external audits or regulatory inspections/examinations, and monitor the remediation of  any issues/findings raised from these reports.
  • Work closely with the compliance testing team to scope reviews on high risk and/or weak control areas.
  • Support Singapore Compliance Officer to maintain the compliance program.
  • Alternate to the Singapore Compliance Officer to provide regulatory advice to business teams and internal stakeholders.

Minimum requirements

  • A bachelor’s  degree or higher.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years combined relevant compliance experience in payments companies, banking institutions, financial regulators, law firms and/or audit firms. 
  • Good knowledge of the payments/fintech industry and the relevant legislations in APAC. 
  • Independent worker with strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound compliance/regulatory decisions for Stripe.
  • Strong team player and problem solver to work with country compliance officers and internal stakeholders to effectively maintain the compliance program. 
  • Strong communication skills  (both written and verbal).
