The Energy Operations Department provides support to our Energy Brokers & Traders and the clients who they serve. They are responsible for timely submission of trades onto exchanges and the venues we support. In addition, we provide first line support for Trayport and NEON Energy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Trade Finance Operations
- Manage issuance, amendment, and settlement of Letters of Credit (LCs), Standby LCs, and Bank Guarantees.
- Coordinate Documentary Collections (DP/DA) and ensure timely presentation of trade documents.
- Review and verify trade documentation: commercial invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB, certificates, and inspection reports.
2. Structured & Supply Chain Finance
- Support prepayment and receivables financing structures.
- Work with banks to optimize working capital, liquidity, and cost of funds.
- Participate in structuring supply chain finance (SCF) programs and onboarding suppliers.
3. Risk Management
- Assess counterparty credit, operational, and settlement risks.
- Ensure compliance with sanctions, AML, KYC, and trade regulations.
- Monitor market conditions affecting trade flows, pricing, and financing availability.
4. Bank Relationship Management
- Liaise with relationship banks on pricing, limits, and facility availability.
- Negotiate trade finance terms to optimize cost and execution efficiency.
- Support periodic reviews, facility renewals, and bank reporting requirements.
5. Internal Coordination
- Work with Trading, Operations, Finance, Treasury, and Legal teams to ensure smooth trade execution.
- Provide trade finance guidance and training to commercial teams.
- Resolve discrepancies, documentation issues, and settlement disputes.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of LCs, Guarantees, SCF, Trade Loans, Receivables Finance, and Incoterms.
- Familiarity with commodities or petrochemicals trading
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of banking processes, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven trading environment.
