The People Business Partner APAC is a member of the People Business Partner team within the People Team in Dow Jones. This role builds relationships with leaders, understands business needs and influences to lead positive change throughout an organization. As an individual contributor, it is expected that you will share best practices and skills to help junior members of the people team succeed and grow.

You Will:

  • Be the trusted advisor to leaders and managers, providing guidance on all people-related matters including performance management, employee development, and conflict resolution

  • Develop an intimate understanding of the businesses you support and be a strategic partner to leaders on programs including: employee engagement, retention, performance planning, employee relations, career development, employee metrics, succession planning, and organizational structuring.

  • Manage complex employee relations issues and investigations, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws, in collaboration with legal and employee relations teams

  • Review and analyze market, industry best practices, trends, and internal feedback and bring those information to the leaders to drive data driven decision with regards to employees

  • Bring the right people together to build new tools and improve the way we work.

  • Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization, personally and programmatically.

  • Foster productive conversations around all areas of the employee life cycle and our internal programs.

  • Partner with global PBP colleagues to roll out talent management initiatives, including annual employee process eg succession planning, career development, and performance evaluation processes

  • Work in tandem with global PBP colleagues to account for all headcount funding - new requisitions, backfills, internal mobility, promotions etc

  • Support organizational change initiatives, ensuring that People impacts are effectively managed

  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on leading their teams through change

  • Monitor and analyze employee engagement data, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement

  • Partner with Global PBPs in support of engagement, DEI and culture activities locally to build the employer brand and employee experience. 

  • Utilize HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and provide insights on workforce trends for the region

  • Enhance and execute on a comprehensive engagement and retention strategy, including regular cadence of check-ins with leaders, managers and relevant colleagues

  • Work with Managers to provide constructive feedback and coaching to employees; assist Managers with effective management of their teams and instill a culture of feedback and high performance

  • Provide honest, constructive feedback and input, even when it may be unpopular.

  • Inform and help create human resource practices and systems that promote our competitive advantage as well as support employee retention, business priorities

You Have:

  • A willingness to work in the Singapore office at least three days each week

  • 5-7 years of relevant human resources experience 

  • Experience with regional employment/labor laws 

  • Experience using data analytics to make actionable recommendations

  • Experience building relationships, gaining credibility, and being viewed as a trusted advisor 

  • Sophistication navigating across highly-matrixed business environment

  • The ability to balance business and employee advocacy

  • Experience facilitating talent movement into and throughout an organization, using your understanding of individual and organizational dynamics

  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of management

  • Collaboration, coaching, and counseling skills

  • Experience using and maintaining multiple tools such as Canva, Sterling, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Form and Google Sheets

  • Experience prioritizing multiple projects and escalate when needed 

  • Experience working with contemporary HR Technology platforms (e.g. Workday, JIRA, ServiceNow)

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
