About the Role:

The Manager/Senior Manager will lead the Asia Iron Ore Price Reporting team, responsible for reporting on markets for the key steelmaking ingredient as part of a larger team covering ferrous and nonferrous metals markets. The manager will ensure the team’s smooth day-to-day functioning in carrying out price assessment and information verification and publication, in line with established methodology and best practices. They will also represent Platts externally in explaining price assessment methodology and delivering insights on spot market activity. Based in Singapore, the successful candidate will manage a team based there, as well as in Penang, Gurgaon and Dubai.

The Impact:

The successful candidate will be in a position to lead reporting on and shape coverage of markets that underpin industrialization and that are adapting to changing environmental regulations in one of the world’s most dynamic growth regions. Iron ore pricing has evolved over the past 15 years from being an annually negotiated price to being based on published price assessments, with a significant growth in financial derivatives permitting hedging. The candidate will have the opportunity of enabling markets to price the commodity in a more transparent and efficient way, by ensuring that we provide informational tools in a timely and relevant manner.

Responsibilities and Impact:

· Lead daily market reporting on Asia-Pacific iron ore, ensuring smooth running of operations

· Develop team members and foster team culture of high performance

· Produce and oversee price assessments in line with Platts rigorous and published methodology

· Lead frequent engagements with key industry stakeholders, explaining methodology and identifying market trends that could lead to methodology changes

· Lead the generation of thought-leadership content, including analysis, features and digital content including podcasts and videos

What We’re Looking For:

· Desire to take ownership of a commodity market in informational and industry relationship terms

· Excellent English language communication skills, verbal and written, with Chinese language skills an advantage

· Experience in metals, commodity or financial markets in a reporting or analytical role

· Strong organizational planning skills; able to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment

· Demonstrated ability to lead people and manage processes

· Energy, drive and ambition to excel in a fast-paced environment

· Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

· Critical thinking abilities, strong sense of initiative and attention to detail

· Ease with working with Excel and PowerPoint
