Functional (job responsibilities)

  • Process trade-related transactions (such as import and export bills, issuance of SBLCs, Bankers’ Guarantees, etc.) accurately & timely, and ensure compliance with established SOPs, controls and regulations.
  • Monitor and ensure that trade transactions are processed within clients’ approved limits / facilities.
  • Review and check all documentation relating to trade finance conscientiously and accurately (i.e. ensure all transactions processed are properly recorded / authorized and required documentations are obtained for audit purposes).
  • Be the signing authority for transactions and advices (e.g. SWIFT, MEPS, payments etc.) and ensure that there is dual-approver control is in place.
  • Review daily/monthly trade finance exposure reports and ensure that all exceptions highlighted in the reports are addressed timely.
  • Perform reconciliation of outstanding Nostro items / suspense account.
  • Conduct due diligence checks for trade finance transactions.
  • Prepare routine and ad-hoc reports accurately and meet the submission deadlines.
  • Provide prompt response to queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure existing SOPs are current (to include amended and/or new work processes) including protocols and escalation process and matrix, reflect regulatory requirements, and are digestible for the offshore team.
  • Review and finalize the existing Service Level Agreement (SLA) between Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Streamline and improve current work process to achieve work efficiency and cost savings.
  • Identify gaps in Straight-Through Process (STP) for settlements to reduce manual intervention during and after the migration.
  • Maintain morale and productivity within the Singapore team during the transition period.
  • Monitor KPI and provide regular progress reports to Management on migration milestones and risk heat maps.
  • Ensure all data privacy and cross-border transfer requirements are met in accordance with Legal & Compliance.
  • Provide effective relief for the team members / manager in trade finance Team.
  • Backup for Remittance payment and Cash related activities.

Organizational (organizational responsibilities)

  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the Management from time to time.

Education/Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in Banking & Finance.

Experience

  • 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience, in Trade Operations/Settlements within a Corporate Bank or Investment Bank.
  • Proven track record in Operational Risk or Project Management, specifically involving offshoring or outsourcing migrations.
  • Deep technical knowledge of SWIFT, SAA and automated settlement workflows.
  • Strong understanding of MAS Outsourcing Guidelines.
  • Possess a good understanding of the banking landscape, banking products and processes.
  • Able to multi-task and drive desired outcomes with tight timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholders across different geographic.
