WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Lead Associate General Counsel, Employment Law, APAC will work closely with regional HR partners, business leaders, and other subject matter experts, such as Labor Compliance, Legal, Employee Relations, Global Investigations, and Ethics & Compliance.

This role is part of Nike’s Legal function and reports to the Director, Assistant General Counsel, Employment Law & Employee Relations, APAC.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking to hire an experienced and passionate employment attorney to support Nike’s people and business across Asia Pacific.

  • At least 4 years of employment law experience, preferably including in-house experience
  • Law degree and good standing with a bar association, with sound understanding and knowledge of employment and labor laws
  • Business-level proficiency in English is a must; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – the ability to listen well, and articulate advice clearly and concisely with a view towards providing practical solutions
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate efficiently and smoothly with key stakeholders in a fast-paced, matrixed, and geographically dispersed organization

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

A typical day/week involves providing legal advice and support to Nike businesses across APAC, including advising on general employment law queries, contractual issues, outsourcing, restructuring and harmonization exercises, employment litigation, restrictive covenants, drafting and reviewing appropriate precedents, policies, and processes for compliance with relevant labor laws. You will provide advice in a timely manner and where appropriate engage, instruct, and manage external lawyers.
You will also work closely with Nike’s investigation functions on internal investigations and advise on remediation and disciplinary action, assist with the implementation and management of key strategic HR legal projects, and take the lead in identifying and addressing employment legal risks within APAC, including emerging legal risks to the business, and make recommendations for change as required.
