Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior IP Counsel to support our intellectual property (IP) team with a focus on patent management systems, technical patent innovation and other IP-related matters.

What you will be responsible for:

Patent Management & Strategy:

  • Maintain and Support IP Processes: Support the maintenance and continuous refinement of the patent application process, including invention identification, proposal tracking, filing coordination, and rights maintenance.
  • Incentive Programs Support: Assist in administering and reviewing patent incentive programs to support internal R&D teams and encourage high-quality patent submissions.
  • Global Patent Portfolio Support: Support the management and organization of the company’s global patent portfolio, assisting with portfolio planning based on business needs and market developments.
  • Licensing & Negotiations Support: Support patent licensing and collaboration initiatives, including assisting with cross-licensing matters and projects related to standard-essential patents.
  • Risk Control & Infringement Monitoring: Assist in implementing risk mitigation measures, including supporting infringement monitoring activities and early-stage risk identification.
  • IP Culture & Training Support: Assist in planning and organizing internal IP training sessions to help promote intellectual property awareness across the organization.

Technical Patent Innovation

  • Invention Scouting Support: Work with R&D teams to help identify innovative technical developments and support the translation of these ideas into patent applications.
  • Technical Skill Development: Develop and apply technical knowledge in areas such as HPC, AI, and server chip technologies to support patent drafting, review, and coordination with external counsel.
  • Open Source & Standards Support: Support the alignment of patent-related work with open source frameworks (e.g., RISC-V) and industry standards, helping ensure appropriate protection of proprietary technologies.

How you will stand out:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent engineering, IP management, or related roles within law firms, technology-driven organizations or reputable IP agencies.
  • Familiarity with patent laws, regulations, and procedures, preferably with experience in worldwide patent prosecution or intellectual property management.
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting and implementing patent management systems (e.g., proposal review processes, incentive programs, patent pool management, international patent portfolio management).
  • Technical expertise in the technology areas of Semiconductor, Microelectronics, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science, with a demonstrated understanding of complex engineering principles and concepts.
