Overview

Applied Materials New College Graduates (NCG) Program is a 16-month inter-department training program with the aim to nurture future leader for Applied’s Global Supply Chain organization. The NCG program consists of structured training modules providing learning opportunities through classroom trainings and interactions with experienced colleagues. The participants will rotate through positions in Purchasing, Sourcing, and Commodity Management, all while developing the technical and business skills required to be successful in the Supply Chain organization.

General Profile

Performs routine assignments in the entry level to a professional job progression. Typically has knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts. Develops competence by performing structured work assignments. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems. Receives instruction, guidance and direction from other team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program starts in July 2026.

  • Engages new supplier introduction and/or disengagement requirements to/from the Applied Materials supply base.

  • Supports the maintenance of agreements with suppliers that provide the structure for all business relationships between Applied Materials and the supply base.

  • Develops strategies to procure components at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.

  • Assists in creation of commodity road maps and implements commodity strategies.

  • Supports new product development program and PLC process to ensure alignment with Applied’s commodity strategies.

  • Drives material cost reduction projects. Activities include but not limited to supplier negotiations, collaboration with engineering on design optimization and should costing.

  • Assists in supplier price and delivery negotiations; under direct supervision may negotiate contracts as necessary.

  • Utilizes the preferred supplier selection and assessment process when selecting suppliers; Completes supplier risk assessment on critical and unique parts; Monitors supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost).

  • Drives resolution to systematic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery or lead-time.

  • Drives initiatives on process improvement, optimization and digitalization of work processes within GSC community.

  • Under direct supervision, forecasts and communicates engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers. Coordinates demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.

  • Review and resolve material shortages to ensure continuity of production activities.

  • Provides input to outsourcing decisions by performing make versus buy analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management, Data Analytics or related field.

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain and MBA is preferred.

  • Proficiency in developing effective executive reports and presentations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office tools.

  • Excellent listening, writing, quantitative, qualitative and oral communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact cross-organizationally.

  • Ability to problem-solve creatively and analytically.

  • Detail-oriented; ability to multi-task; deadline-oriented.

  • Flexible and adaptable mindset.

  • Thrive in a results-driven culture.
