Citi’s Foreign Exchange Product team is seeking a leader in Product Management who will

Create a product vision and roadmap to delivery

Be responsible from concept to design to delivery with end user / client in the forefront

Work in close co-ordination with various business, risk, finance, technology and operations teams to fulfil the delivery objective

The successful candidate will be hands-on and techno functional, willing and able to dig into trading systems to understand critical data flows.  The incumbent will have excellent analytical skills, and a solid understanding of key business concepts, and be able to use these skills to manage and implement a wide variety of products. Will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills that make him/her equally effective working with business users and technology alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In today’s increasingly competitive financial markets business success depends upon ability to process and manage risk in a real time environment.

    Citi’s Foreign Exchange systems execute millions of transactions daily; and the FX product team manages platforms that provide near real-time, end-of-day, and historical data about these transactions, associated risk and the clients that execute them. Our goal is to support all our business’ risk, trade processing and regulatory needs.

    We are looking to hire a resourceful individual who will throw themselves into the challenge of understanding and managing FX Trade processing platforms and trade flows so that they can produce timely and accurate analysis and simple solutions for complex problems.  As part of this role, the successful candidate will gain an in-depth knowledge of the key areas of the FX franchise Globally and to collaborate with business leaders and technologists to identify key opportunities to build and implement Products to drive business value. 

    Specific areas of focus would be:

    •             Enhancing Trade Processing Capacity and Resilience by evaluating new technologies, optimizing workflows, and automating processes to improve trade processing efficiency and reduce operational risks.

    •             Standardizing Market Risk Management through implementation of standardised Risk Platform

    •             Automation by implementing automated trade processing flows working with Citi’s services partners in Custody and Payments to reduce manual errors and speed up transaction times.

    •             FX Options as we build a new infrastructure and platform for this business

    •             Navigating the Complex Regulatory Environment in Asia to ensure we are compliant with regulations and controls as well as work with local compliance and Trading and sales to implement new initiatives as key markets such as Korea, India and Taiwan open up

    Key teams and stakeholders that the incumbent will interact with and influence are FX Global and Regional trading heads, Global & Regional CAO’s,  Technology partners, Markets Ops,  Risk and Finance

    The role reports into FX Global Product Manager – Core Products in London.
  • Enable standardization of business process globally, to save costs and allow for better controls on business workflows.
  • Provide a global perspective to discussions around every solution and decide on what is right for business. Working across horizontals and verticals with global/regional/local teams
  • Direct interaction with sales and traders, to understand their long term vision, discuss industry trends, and incorporate them into the product & solutions strategy.
  • Solutions ranging across workflows, trade processing, Risk, eCommerce & backoffice flows
  • Ability to prioritize on behalf of business
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo, whether it’s about processes, solutions, or structures.
  • Covering the expanse of 20+ countries in Asia and 65+ Globally each having its own idiosyncrasies of legal, compliance and business requirements
  • Partner with senior business leaders and a widely distributed global user community to define and implement solutions
  • Partner with technical specialists to define solutions that deliver business requirements
  • Create clear and specific project plans, business and technical requirements documents
  • Secure buy-in from all project stakeholders; set accurate expectations about deliverables and timelines and ensure they are met or exceeded.
  • Identify and manage upstream and downstream project dependencies; secure resources and commitments from upstream dependencies as required; make and keep commitments to downstream dependencies.
  • Develop best practices to be used in evaluating, selecting and implementing technologies for use within FX technology more broadly in partnership with Citi Technology
  • Product driven rather than user driven approach
  • End to end ownership of a project and business representation in a project (across multiple teams)
  • Effective escalation and project management, to achieve a timely & good quality of deliverables. Leverage the organization
  • Acting as a brand ambassador for the product & business

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in a product management or business analyst role, designing and delivering solutions
  • Incumbent needs to be technically talented in Excel and have used utilized these skills as a central part of a previous role for a number of years
  • At least 5 years experience working in a financial services industry
  • Should understand FX workflow from Client side booking to the deal flowing down to backoffice
  • Knowledge of FX Options, Trading Risk Management
  • Familiarity with technology development methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent management skills across team, peers and management
  • Strong analysis skills; ability to create business analysis from scratch, ability to troubleshoot data quality issues, ability to conduct exploratory and descriptive analysis of business datasets.
  • Should be comfortable with doing data investigations that require a high degree of accuracy with tight timescales
  • Positive attitude and hard working
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Engineering or  related technical or quantitative discipline from a top tier University
