Job Description

Purpose of the role

To execute trades and manage risk within a defined portfolio of financial instruments and staying informed about market trends and developments to make informed trading decisions. 

Accountabilities

  • Execution of buy and sell orders or pricing of liquidity in various financial instruments while adhering to the bank's trading strategies and risk parameters.
  • Monitoring and analysis of global financial markets, economic indicators, news, and geopolitical events to identify trading opportunities and assess market risks.
  • Management and monitoring of the risk associated with the trading portfolio and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal risk management guidelines.
  • Collaboration with research analysts and other teams to gather insights and information for trading decisions.

Join us at Barclays and become a member of the eFX trading desk, where you’ll be responsible for overseeing risk management and performance of an algorithmic 24x5.5 market making system, managing a portfolio of FX Spot & NDF currencies in a fast-paced front office trading environment. Barclays is a top global FX firm and BARX sets the standard for execution and access to award winning e-trading solutions with deep liquidity and world class technology. In your new role, you’ll monitor intraday system P&L and risk manage the trading book as required. You will participate in projects to optimise the client franchise and develop the product offering in order to improve profitability. You will collaborate with eSales team to grow the client franchise via data driven analysis. You may be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in this role like, experience in the FX market in a front office trading role along with wide understanding of the technology and infrastructure aspects to operate a high-performance algorithmic trading system. Being experienced with a mid to high level of scripting and/or coding skills (e.g. Q/KDB+ and Python/R) along with the ability to derive actionable insights from large datasets will be a key skill for this role, to operate confidently and independently in time sensitive situations, to ensure timely risk management. Having excellent communication skills will be to your advantage.
