Job Description

• In this position as a Mechanical Engineer in the LC/MS Hardware R&D Group, you will be part of an extraordinary multidisciplinary team dedicated and focused on creating great Mass Spectrometers for Life Science markets.

• We have an opportunity in our R&D team for a very talented, creative and dedicated Mechanical Engineer to design and analyze scientific instrumentation with the primary application in LCMS analyses. You will work in one of the most technically interesting and stimulating R&D environments. Your colleges are very talented and experience Engineers and Scientists. Together we make industry leading innovative Mass Spectrometers. It's fun, rewarding and fast paced covering wide array domains of Engineering, Physics and Chemistry.

• In our R&D group, you'll be part of a team that analyzes, designs, prototypes and tests new products. We work in a multidisciplinary and cross functional team. Most projects require mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers, as well as chemists and software engineers, to create a complete system. As part of those projects, you will also work with our manufacturing, purchasing and marketing departments to transform your designs into shipping products.
  Though you'll be part of a team, you will also be working independently and setting your own priorities. The scope and complexity of your projects will be based on your existing knowledge and capabilities as well as how fast you can acquire new skills.

• Mechanical Engineers at our site work on a wide variety of products with an equally wide variety of technologies. These include thermal and pneumatic subsystems, robotic automation products, proprietary chemical sensors and state-of-the-art fabrication techniques for mechanical components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

• Proficiency with 3D CAD design is a must. Experience with Solid Designer is highly desirable.

• Ability to properly tolerance drawings and analyze tolerance stack up of parts and assemblies

• Must have hands-on experience with designing and building prototype assemblies.

• Ability to read and understand mechanical prints and specifications.

• High degree of mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability, with a strong attention to detail.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work cooperatively in a project team environment.

• Entails the ability to take a hands-on approach in developing and troubleshooting one's own work.

• Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.

• Previous experience in mass spectrometry instrument design would be advantageous but not a requirement.

Additional Details

This job has a full time weekly schedule.
