Payments Solution

The Payments Engine solution builds integrations at a global scale for in-store and online payments. We make sure that our merchants and partners have a seamless integration with the Adyen platform.

As a team lead in this solution, you will build, mentor, and coach a diverse and talented team. You should be comfortable streamlining the team's engineering operations, refining product requirements together with product and merchants and encouraging effective collaboration. As a critical role in the continued success of our organization, you will help to iterate our culture and build an amazing team environment that will create future leaders for Adyen.

Cards

Card Payments account for more than 90% of all the traffic that Adyen processes and it’s the Cards team’s responsibility to make sure that this sustains securely and reliably. We have our own acquiring solutions over 40+ countries and have over 50+ card acquiring connections.
So as part of the Cards team here, you get to contribute to the biggest piece of the pie here at Adyen and work with a large scale. You will not only contribute to our platform in India but work with our global teams based in Singapore, Netherlands, Brazil and the USA to deliver products successfully while ensuring accuracy, reliability, scalability, speed and quality. So next time, you make a payment with your card on Netflix, Uber, Spotify, Airbnb or any of the other thousands of merchants that use Adyen, chances are, you worked on the code to make that happen

What you’ll do

  • Work cross-functionally with design, product, data engineers, engineers and other key stakeholders within Payments.
  • Hands-on Technical Leadership: Actively contribute to code, code reviews, architecture decisions, etc. Collaborate closely with engineers to design and develop scalable solutions, while also mentoring and providing technical guidance to the team.
  • Have a multiplier effect by motivating team members and providing coaching in areas including but not limited to: engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, product roadmap discussions.
  • Maintain an inclusive team culture focused on autonomy, ownership, collaboration, communication, and impact.
  • Collaborate with different teams to design and implement new services with reliability/infra/data/dev in mind.
  • Set clear individual and team goals that align with our strategic engineering ambitions in close collaboration with the product manager.
  • Create an inspiring and collaborative team environment with an open communication/feedback culture.
  • Recruit new team members who align with the Adyen culture and required skills.
  • Maintain an inclusive team culture focused on autonomy, ownership, collaboration, communication, and impact.

Who you are

  • An energetic self-starter experienced in creating alignment between multiple teams.
  • You have experience with Core Java, Distributed systems, Web services, REST APIs and SQL/PostgreSQL.
  • You are able to define, implement and monitor performance KPIs to quickly identify opportunities for improvement in existing systems.
  • Experienced in coaching and mentoring engineering talent.
  • Experienced in leading technical projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Experienced with collaborating with senior leadership to set strategic direction including product roadmaps.
  • An excellent communicator and team player with strong management skills and technical aptitude.
  • Must be willing to travel, both domestically and internationally when required to meet with colleagues and/or merchant teams.
  • Someone who can clearly communicate about technical concepts to non-engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in managing engineering teams within a Java environment
  • 7+ years of experience in software development industry in a fast paced tech environment
  • Full professional proficiency in English
