The candidate would be part of a major insurance asset owner and fast-growing portfolio, working closely with multiple functions cross the Manulife regional and international entities for investment opportunities.  As a member of the Corporate Finance Asia team, the candidate will contribute towards fixed income investment origination and execution, credit and thematic analysis, and sustainability implementation.

The key responsibilities include:

  • All-round investment execution: participate from origination, due diligence, financial modelling, structuring, documentation, investment recommendation and placement, to post-investment monitoring

  • Business development: liaison with brokers, investment peers, and borrowers/issuers; maintain strong understanding of the industry, credits pricing, relative value, and provide insightful and prompt investment and sustainability feedback on new opportunities and credit/industry cycles

  • Credit analysis: cover as lead analyst with fundamental credit and key risk evaluation on a wide range of counterparties and investments across Asia, notably in developing markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam etc. 

  • Credit process participation: present comprehensive and well-thought-out investment proposals; actively participate in credit approval discussions

  • Credit stewardship: maintain timely and quality credit reviews on a consistent basis, incorporate key risks, market & business updates, and/or recent events that are considered significant to the investment assessment

  • Market research: collect and analyze data and information from internal functions, external agencies, and public sources; produce thought leadership on multiple themes; keep abreast of regulation requirements, market update and practices

 Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • At least 7 years’ experience in well-established financial institutions, rating agencies, or relevant organizations

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia is required to effectively serve clients who speak Bahasa Indonesia.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with competent data collection and analysis capability

  • Good interpersonal skills with team-oriented mindset and ability to build relationship with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Self-motivated personality, passion to learn in a fast-developing area, multi-tasking ability, fine judgement on prioritization, and well-developed project management skills

  • Demonstrated understanding and fixed income investment experience in developing markets in Asia

  • Bachelor’s degree and above in the subject of Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or relevant disciplines; professional certification in investment and sustainability preferred
