The Content Localization team,  responsible for dubbing, subtitling, and accessibility assets, plays a crucial role in delivering Netflix programs to an expanding international audience by focusing on high-quality localized audio and text services, fostering a collaborative team environment, and utilizing cutting-edge technology.
 

As a Regional Lead, you will ensure that members experience the highest quality dubbed audio and expertly crafted subtitles, preserving creative intent and enhancing the localized experience for viewers everywhere. With Netflix's ongoing international expansion, support for new languages, and the introduction of new content genres, providing world-class dubbing and subtitling services is essential to our success, making this an exciting time to join the company.
 

Role Overview
The Director of Content Localization, APAC will serve as the primary leader and strategic liaison for all localization efforts, including dubbing, subtitling, and the suite of accessibility assets across the APAC region. This role oversees the management of multilingual content for Netflix, ensuring the highest standards of quality, operational excellence, and cultural relevance. The Director will lead and mentor a diverse team of Language Production Leads and Operations Leads, driving innovation and supporting Netflix’s growth in the region.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Develop and execute a regional localization strategy, including dubbing, subtitling, and related workflows, tailored to the region and aligned with global objectives and KPIs.

  • Partner with regional and global leaders to adapt and implement the global localization strategy, ensuring prioritization of resources and efforts across dubbing, subtitling, and other language services.

  • Support and drive the rollout of Netflix’s 5-year Localization vision, including innovation and technology adoption in both dubbing and subtitling.

  • Represent the APAC region’s needs and insights in global operational and creative strategy discussions for content globalization.
     

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing Dream Teams of Localization Language Leads,  (Senior) Managers, and Localization Operations across multiple APAC countries.

  • Hire, develop, and retain top talent, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and internationally minded team culture.

  • Oversee team performance and development, maximizing contribution and potential within the organization.
     

Cross-Functional Partnership & Advocacy

  • Collaborate closely with Content, Production, Marketing, Legal, Public Policy, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless localization workflows for both dubbing and subtitling.

  • Advocate for the APAC region’s needs, generating insights, initiating programs, and influencing localization decisions company-wide.

  • Build strong partnerships with key regional organizations and represent Netflix at industry and company events.
     

Operational & Financial Excellence

  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement of localization workflows, ensuring creative, technical, and operational excellence.

  • Partner with Finance and Accounting to track and manage local localization, dubbing, and subtitling costs, monitoring market trends and union/guild activity.

  • Monitor competitor activity to inform strategy and maintain Netflix’s leadership position in localization, dubbing, and subtitling.
     

Thought Leadership & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities for growth, quality improvement, and scalability within localization, dubbing, and subtitling operations.

  • Contribute to Netflix’s culture of curiosity, responsibility, and innovation, sharing best practices and learnings across regions.

  • Deliver impactful analyses and presentations to executive audiences, translating complex ideas into actionable insights.
     

Representation & Market Presence

  • Professionally represent Netflix in the regional localization, dubbing, and subtitling marketplace.

  • Attend and speak at industry events to promote Netflix’s localization capabilities and vision.
     

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of people and organizational management in a global enterprise, ideally within the entertainment industry.

  • 10+ years of scaled operations, localization (including dubbing and subtitling), and internationalization experience, with extensive team leadership.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence at the executive level, with superior operational management and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, business analysis, and making data accessible to diverse audiences.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Regional expertise and fluency in English and at least one additional APAC language; further language skills are a plus.

  • Willingness to travel and act as a self-starter, visionary leader, and team builder.

  • Passion for language, cultural nuance, and innovation in localization, dubbing, and subtitling workflows.
