Introduction

As APAC Head of Regulatory and Business Management, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how our APAC Financial Markets business grows—responsibly, compliantly, and with impact.

Partnering closely with senior leaders across Sales and Trading, this role sits at the heart of strategy execution, regulatory stewardship, and business enablement.

Role Summary

As a senior member of the APAC Financial Markets Management Team, you will support the APAC Head of Financial Markets and regional leadership in setting and executing the APAC Financial Markets strategy.

You will own regional business management and regulatory coordination across Financial Markets, ensuring strategic initiatives are delivered effectively, risks are understood and managed, and governance standards are consistently met across markets.

About the Team

You will lead and be accountable for three core teams:

  • Asia FM Business Management Team
    Providing regional oversight and support across regulatory topics, strategy development, budgeting, cost management, internal controls, governance, and employee-related compliance matters.
  • Singapore Front Office Support Team
    Supporting Trading, Sales, and Business Management through Middle Office and Post‑Trade processes, ensuring operational efficiency and control integrity.
  • Singapore FM Tribe
    Delivering technology and customer‑journey solutions that enable Financial Markets innovation and scalability.

These teams collectively enable the Financial Markets franchise to operate efficiently while maintaining a strong control and regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Management

  • Coordinate APAC Financial Markets business strategy and new strategic initiatives.
  • Translate growth ambitions into executable plans, ensuring clear ownership and accountability.
  • Proactively identify roadblocks and execution risks, resolving or escalating as appropriate.
  • Drive planning, budgeting, cost management, and overall business performance.

Regulatory & Control Framework

  • Ensure business and control issues are identified, addressed, and embedded into daily operations.
  • Act as a key interface between Front Office, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Finance, Tax, IT, and Audit.
  • Support product development, client onboarding, and internal control enhancements across the region.

Compliance & Conduct

  • Partner closely with Compliance and Legal to strengthen regulatory awareness and conduct standards across Financial Markets.
  • Ensure staff understand applicable regulations, ING policies, job‑specific responsibilities, and escalation requirements.
  • Promote a culture of early issue identification, transparency, and responsible risk-taking.

Governance & Committees

  • Active participation in key governance forums, including:
    • APAC Financial Markets Management Committee (FM MANCO)
    • APAC Product Approval and Review Process (PARP)
    • Business Conduct and Front Office Supervision Committee (BCFOS)
    • Client Product Approval Committee (CPAC)
    • APAC Non‑Financial Risk Committee (alternate)
    • Singapore Management Committee (alternate)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in Financial Markets within Business Management, COO, Regulatory, or Governance functions.
  • Strong understanding of APAC market regulations and non‑financial risk frameworks.
  • Proven ability to drive complex strategy execution across regions and stakeholders.
  • Credibility working with senior Sales and Trading leaders.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Clear communicator with strong judgement, escalation discipline, and execution focus.
