What you will be responsible for:

  • Synthesis & Logic Optimization Support:
    • Assist in logic synthesis and basic design optimizations for AI architectures (e.g., TPUs, NPUs).
    • Learn and support the development of arithmetic units (e.g., MAC arrays, SIMD engines).
  • Timing Analysis (Learning Focus):
    • Support static timing analysis (STA) under guidance.
    • Help analyze critical paths and clock constraints in multi-clock designs.
  • Power & Area Awareness:
    • Explore low-power design concepts such as clock gating and power domains.
    • Assist in basic memory hierarchy analysis for power and area trade-offs.
  • Design-for-Test (DFT) Exposure:
    • Observe DFT activities like scan insertion and MBIST setup.
    • Assist in documentation or script preparation related to DFT flows.
  • Collaboration with Physical Design:
    • Collaborate with the physical design team to understand floorplanning and P&R basics.
    • Help collect and verify design constraints for AI-specific modules.
  • Verification & Debugging:
    • Support formal equivalence checks under mentorship.
    • Participate in debugging sessions for timing, power, or synthesis issues.

How you will stand out:

  • Pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals, including combinational and sequential logic, FSMs, and scan-based design.
  • Familiarity with Design-for-Test (DFT) concepts such as scan chain insertion, boundary scan, JTAG, and memory BIST (MBIST).
  • Exposure to RTL-to-GDSII flow and industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys DFT Compiler, Tessent, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Understanding of timing analysis and handling of multi-clock domains in test mode is desirable.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, or Shell for automation of design and test workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced engineering team.
